They are the coolest cards now IMO, EX cards used to look cool when I first got into it but now they aren't special and have no value. And SV seems like it has really bad pull rates for IR cards. Last 2 sets were some of the worst luck I ever had with these cards. Maybe got 1 out of 15 packs from Shrouded Fable.

Full AR binder in Japanese > Full AR binder in English. Change my mind. I live and collect in Japan, so theres a bias, but the prices in English just make little sense, I get the pull rates being as they are, but the pumping is just too much. A lot of the time the Japanese text doesn't obscure as much of the art as well.

Japanese = half size sets + guaranteed 3 IR per box meaning more of the same cards come out more often for a way less expensive price. An insanely larger amount of Japanese entering the market

This is why I'm kinda relieved the IR/SIR cards aren't labeled in a subset like the Trainer Gallery so there's no compulsion for me to collect them all together in a binder, just pick up the ones I like. And if it's significantly cheaper to pick up a Japanese copy than an English copy, all the better. Regarding quality, I pulled a gold Area Zero Underdepths with a nice ding on the top edge and was actually relieved because now I have no qualms about sleeving up and shuffling that card into my deck haha.

I had a PSA sub a month or two ago that hit 17/19 PSA 10s, including charmanders, groudon, raichu, squirtle, ect. I ended up selling all of them. The art is dope but the lack of texture really made them feel lackluster once I had them graded and in my hand. I just couldnt imagine paying the 300 dollars that they were worth, if I had not grades them myself. I really wish they would add texture to the higher end IR's. In sword and shield the upper half of the trainer gallery cards all had texture. I REALLY wish they wouldn't have pulled that out of scarlet and violet. Its one of my only complaints about scarlet and violet. Groudon, raichu, magicarp, sudowoodo, those cards would all be amazing if they had been given texture. Id be heavily collecting sprigatito and many others if they had texture. They just feel a little flat and unimporant when I have them in hand. The art is truely awesome though. At least they are killing it with the artwork itself, I just wish they would give it a proper canvas. Take back the extra reverse holo and guaranteed holo and give is textured IR's!

I fully agree with you. I live outside the US, so I have no easy/cheap way of sending cards to PSA, so I have to buy them straight from eBay. I can’t justify paying so much money for PSA 10 copies of IRs, but I will do so for some SIRs. IR cards that I really like in English, I’ll typically buy them in 9s if their 10 counterparts are ridiculously expensive, such as the IR Magikarp, Groudon, Gastly, Eevee, etc. To make matters worse, there are some crappy arts in SIRs and those obviously have texture! :(

How many collectors care about cards being “10s”? I feel like that’s mostly investors. Anecdotal, I could be wrong, but I feel like if the card looks good most collectors would be happy putting it in a binder.

Quite a few collectors, especially of slabs, like 10s. Money people do as well but it’s not uncommon for collectors to have 10’s as their goal

I've been switching to Japanese cards, the english booster boxes are much more expensive where I am. I can get 2 almost 3 Japanese boxes (depending on price/set) for the cost of 1 english one.. But on the flip side I don't care about print errors or nano-scratches etc imo wouldn't a defect or imperfection make it worth more? Maybe it's because I'm not investing and just opening for fun that I don't really get it.

My booster boxes actually had quite a bit of damage, too. Many of the cards had bent/creased corners. I thought maybe it was just the seller I purchased from damaged the boxes, but after seeing some of these posts, it looks like the quality was just shit. I also got a Lacey SIR from a sleeved pack. There was a weird dent on the bottom straight out of the pack. That was the only damaged card in that particular pack, of course.

Well, everyone said pull rates are to easy...... there they go! It adds an extra challenge to get a PSA 10. However, it can keep singles down for players and collectors. But if you want that PSA 10 CHASE, It may take a voucher tries to snag the 10. Idk, just a thought.

It seems stupid something is worth more due to print quality being so bad. They are gonna print them poorly on purpose for the hype 😂. I collect Japanese stickers which are almost impossible to grade in a 10. It's not due to print quality. You have to treat every sticker like a baby ❤

There are still some instances where the Japanese version goes for more than English. Obviously, you know that, however I do believe that the Japanese cards should actually actually be worth more in my opinion as the quality is much more desirable I guess I see your point on them all being, but that should make them more desirable in my opinion, the other thing that I look at is the packs have terrible rates and only come with five cards so the chances of you pulling a decent card are very slim. Japanese cards will definitely go back up and value. Everything is cyclical in the Pokémon collecting community.

I don’t think that’s it. If you do the math the pull rates for some of these IRs are about on par with SIRs (if you want specific IRs). Like the magikarp is insanely hard to pull because there’s sooo many IRs in paldea. Scarcity just affects supply and demand.

Japanese def is higher quality but still is not perfect and has similar problems that pack fresh English cards have Japanese cards are not guarantee psa 10s lol For example I looked at a lot of different Japanese bubble mews and mostly all of them have OC problems with major Print lines 🎉🎉

Eh, i had the same experience with my 151 JPN booster boxes. 80% of my holos and reverse holos had crazy print lines. Japanese print quality is NO where near as good as ENG. also not sure why anyone thinks pull rate has little to do with value. even the most beautiful of cards are wroth dog balls when they are easy to pull. pull rate is the MAIN factor for value.

PSA 10 Magikarp isn't hard to pull. There are like over 1500 PSA 10s and the sets been out like 4 months.

That’s not the case. In English, there are currently 1,218 PSA 10 Magikarp out of 5,204 graded in total. That’s a 23.4% gem rate, so less than 1 out of every 4 copies submitted to PSA get a 10. For comparison, in Japanese there are currently 24,239 PSA 10 Magikarp out of 26,070 graded in total. That’s a 92.97% gem rate. At least for this card, Japanese is the clear quality winner. 🤷🏼‍♂️
