More like this is why they should remove them. Nascar is dying because it doesn't have anything that stands out amongst other motorsport. If you could call it 'the fastest racing on earth' people would pool in to watch cars at enormous speeds. Besides, racing with a restrictor is more dangerous than without because the cars bunch together causing more crashes.

Nascar should just re develop all the tracks to have inside stands and amenities and then make massive runoff areas. I'm talking a solid 100yds concrete runoff and another 100 of gravel or something to further slow a car.

why is the rev meter inverted?

It’s inverted because when the rev limiter is hit, around 9500 rpm or so, the tach needle is level. It’s not important but that seems to be the function of it. Just a visual cue.
