Well, it's time for another School of Sim Racing Video.
After an amazing response to the 360 winged sprint car videos, this time we'll be diving into the UMP Dirt Modified.
Now full disclosure: I'm not the best at these cars. But, that being said...
... if the changes I've discovered helped me this much, then they will definitely help you!
Down below, you can get the setup matrix and shock tuning guide that I referenced in the video.

Shock and Spring Tuning Guide: drive.google.com/open?id=1eJV...

Thanks for watching!

Thanks for stepping a bit out of your comfort zone to put this together and at least point us in a direction to go. I appreciate it. Nice thing is in at least the official races there aren’t any heats. Just have to deal with feature wear over 30 laps so this will help a lot to get it dialed in for that. Looking forward to the next ones.

Awesome Videos! I been watching a bunch trying to pick up some tips. I been struggling with the Modifieds and Late Models entering the corner. No matter what I do I seem to spin out on entry everytime. Going to try some of your tips!

Go to Lanier, start coasting around the corner and when you see the flag stand floor it until you get to the corner then let off and just keep doing that until you can SMOOTHLY straighten the car out (set track to 20% and follow the outer line of blackened track.) it helped me a ton

Try a negative wheel offset. I’m at -12 and it feels great. Car feels straight and fast!

great vid. one suggestion would be for you to share what your starting setup is. if you go to in this case C:\Users\Your User Name\Documents\iRacing\setups\dirtumpmod and put the setup in a drop box or something so we can grab it and follow along. Yes i am aware that we could just screen shot or take a pic and set all the values but for me at least that is a pain as I am a VR racer and i only have one monitor so it would be much easier to grab a setup from a drop box or something throw it in the folder and then follow along with you.

I will start doing that. Thanks for the idea.

How many full races have you ran with this setup? I’m just starting to learn about the tuning, I’ve just been using a setup I found on OSR so far. I’m just curious how only 50lbs of bite works on dry slick?

only a couple. It's not really fast. This setup was really designed for those who are learning these cars and have trouble getting them to rotate and handle. It's not really a setup for speed. More for learning.

J bar height is too high should help from sliding up into the wall if you lower it a tad

how much brake are you using getting into corner?
@TommyBrandon
@TommyBrandon 4 жыл бұрын
Not much, maybe 15 - 25% at most. But, I have some pretty cheap pedals, so it might be a little different than you. But I use just enough to help get the car to rotate.

Sir, can you tell me, with your experience with iracing, what kind of computer you have? I am wanting to build on for iracing and flying. I am a crewchief on USMTS car. What you talk about is factual. Thanks

I have a ryzen 3600 with an rtx 2060 super graphics card. This allows me to run triple monitors at good not great fps. I have a build guide video for sim racing pcs here on the channel. And thank you for the comments.

I know it’s an old video but dirt modifieds like to be pushed HARD. Or else it will push back. There’s nothing else like them in dirt track racing. Next to no down force. Even street stock are allowed more downforce. Drive as hard as you can into the corner. Weight transfer is the most important thing on these cars. IMO

The setup fails tech due to rear axle lead being to high and right front ride highly being to Low

the setup from this video doesn't work anymore because the car has a different tire model on it now.

The setups are more about comfort. If they feel the same, then just use whichever one you find to be more comfortable.

@@TommyBrandon they both do the same thing in the instant i have to counter steer they go around. not blaming the setups just dont get how 2 radically diffrent sets act the same.

@@cyhoaglan2451 Once you lift off the throttle, the car will try to turn on its own. When I first started, I would turn and let off the throttle a little bit and the car would spin. Try going half throttle down the straight away and lift just before the corner. The car will try to turn and that's when you counter steer. Practice that a few times and then start adding throttle in the corner once you counter steer.

@@michaelbengen6117 ok. been messing around with the steering ratio on the controller trying to find if its over steering from that.
