If I’m not mistaken the Boeing 747-200 was introduced in 1971, which would make the plane 50 years old! It’s a miracle that the Iranians have been able to maintain these planes in working conditions, after all these years. I shudder to imagine the metal fatigue load leading to catastrophic structural failures on these old workhorses after 50 years of repeated in-flight stresses, landing cycles, cabin pressurizations etc. Let’s hope they are using laser peening technology to prevent metal fatigue in mission critical parts; as well as insuring system performance, longevity, and reliability using avionics upgrade packages. Notwithstanding, a great video of a professional crew in action.

I used to go to Iran from Narita. I have liked Iran Air 747SP since I was a kid. The first time I got on it was EP-IAC. I was really sad to retire in 2016, but thanks to you, I feel like I've been riding the 747SP all the time. I'm looking forward to seeing other videos of Iran Air 747SP pilots.

I don't think Iran Air spend a lot of money on spares at Boeing for their remaining 747s, but they are known to be quite ingenious at reverse engineering parts that they need to keep these oldies flying. Well done.

Truly an amazing Boeing Aircraft here. My career outline, I first started on dc9's in 1993-2000 with about 4900 hrs. Next i lucked out and found an opening, so i transferred aircraft's retrained on the 747 accumulating roughly 4200 hrs on the 200's from 2000 to 2006 as co pilot. I continued on the 400 series afterwards and picked up an additional 6500 hrs until about 2015. Total 747 hrs just shy of 11000hrs. Nowadays im currently flying the new a330-900neo. There will always be a place in my heart for the queen of the skies and this video just brought back old memories at northwest. Thanks for sharing this

Sometime during this flight they had a problem with the #4 generator as the CSD is now disconnected with the corresponding yellow light showing CSD low oil pressure and the #4 GEN light is on also at 27:14. This is not a big problem as these are 60 KVA generators and the other 3 are more than enough to power the aircraft.

Yes they did, but as they were discovered and it violated the embargo they never could use them. So, this aircraft is Iran Air since delivery from Boeing if my memory servers me correctly. Thanks for watching 👍

No not that, when descending you do not need that much of trust and also you don’t want to go low on all engines RPM. So the pilots use 2 of the engine trusts and less trust on the other 2 engines. A lot of technical details involved.
