I was at this game. It was the worst night of my life. Even when I watch a replay I still can't believe Australia didn't score 10 goals. On the train trip home nobody spoke, all you could hear was the sound of boys crying. Years later I saw a documentary about what the win meant for the people Iran. You guys needed the win more than us so it doesn't seem so painful anymore. Good luck to you.

K. Azizi is japanese? Is there descendent of japaneses in some part of Irã? I have a friend for internet who live in Mashad, a city in east of Irã, nearby Turcomenistão.

there are a lot of asian-looking persons including Torkmans in Iran particularly in the north east. dont forget Turkmanistan is neighbouring iran in north east, Mashad. but there Tajiks, Ozbaks, and others probably poeple of Mongolian descent in Iran. once upon a time, Persia spanned a large swaths of central asia. but also mongols and central asian invaded north of Iran frequetly, and settled there. there was also Silk road which connected china, central asia and iran too, leading to poeple movements. Facial features of a lot of asian poeple in Iran has modified too, due to intermarriage over 100s of year if not more. Aziz looks more of a Tajik descent. Sardar Azmoon is Turkman and is coming from north east, Gonbad which is some hundreds of kilometers west of meshad. the national volleybal player, Saber Kazemi is also of Torkman descent and coming from same area as Sardar. both of them are not very typical if you search.
