In standard US Navy procedure, the helicopters would have identified themselves, and, issued verbal warnings to the Houthi boats. That means, those Houthi had to conciously decide to open fire on armed US Navy helicopters, instead of simply withdrawing. It's clear we're not dealing with tactical geniuses here.

Seriously, why would Iran send such a pathetic signal by sending only ONE old frigate? The Iranians are surprisingly ignorant of how image plays on the world stage. IMO, if Iran wanted to send a strong signal of defiance and will, they would send a dozen of their frigates and their only flag ship, the IRIS Makran. All rigged out with helicopters, drones, and maybe a couple of their Ghadir-class mini-subs that could be lowered and retrieved by loading cranes. The shallow waters of the Bab el Mandeb strait is IDEAL hunting ground for those mini-subs. But, Iran has not shown much imagination or will to demonstrate anything.

I am unsure how for example Denmark is responsible for anything happening in Gaza (it was DK cargo ship attacked leading to 3 Houthi boats destroyed by US navy).
