60 Minutes, the most successful American television broadcast in history, began its 52nd season in September. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 is still a hit in 2020. 60 Minutes makes Nielsen’s weekly Top 10 nearly every week and was the #1 weekly television broadcast three times last season.
The program still averages more than 10 million viewers, more than double the audience of its nearest network news magazine competitor. The average audience for a 60 Minutes broadcast is 150% higher than those of the network morning news programs; the audience dwarfs the number of viewers drawn by the most popular cable news programs.
About a million more people listen to the 60 Minutes radio simulcast in several major cities and on its companion podcast. Tens of thousands each week experience 60 Minutes online. The broadcast’s segments can be watched at 60Minutes.com and on the CBS All Access app. Its webcast, 60MinutesOvertime.com, offers content originally produced for the web, including behind-the-scenes video about the production of 60 Minutes stories and timely archival segments.
60 Minutes has won every major broadcast award. Its 25 Peabody and 150 Emmy awards are the most won by any single news program. It has also won 20 duPont-Columbia University journalism awards. Other distinguished journalism honors won multiple times include the George Polk, RTDNA Edward R. Murrow, Investigative Reporters and Editors, RFK Journalism, Sigma Delta Chi and Gerald Loeb awards.
60 Minutes premiered on CBS September 24, 1968. Bill Owens is the program’s executive producer. The correspondents and contributors of 60 Minutes are Sharyn Alfonsi, Anderson Cooper, John Dickerson, Norah O’Donnell, Scott Pelley, Lesley Stahl, Bill Whitaker and L. Jon Wertheim.

For many years I have wondered why international aid agencies are not working with the poor and destitute in the USA and having international disasyer relief fund raising appeals by organizations such as the red cross. I have wondered why international Christian organizations are not riding around the USA on bicycles like mormons do everywhere else, but to preach peace, human rights, and alternatives to corrupted governments that sacreligously use prayer before voting on illegal wars to steal resources from other countries.

@@NugicusStreetPhotography Well in that region of the world Israel should not be looked at as a religious group for sympathy. Israel was the aggressor in taking part of Palestine to create its own state. Israel was like the old colonial imperialist European powers. Israel had the power and went in Palestine and took it. That's what the Iranian president is saying. But the state of Israel concept was a response to what happened to jews in Germany( Holocaust) and many years of Jews being discriminated against in Europe. But the state of Israel is the aggressor in this situation in Palestine. One should not lump all Jews across the world for what the State of Israel has done to the Palestinian people. But Jews did need to protect themselves.

@@phillyguy2157 Everything you've just said is factually. Let's ignore the fact that there has never been an independant sole Arab nation called Palestine before and it was the Arab leaders who attacked Jews first in the beginning of the Aran Israeli war in 1948. Israel isnothing like the colonialist Imperial powers of Europe. For instance Jews immigrated to the Levant to escape oppression and many were refugees. The did not go there to exploit or conquor the natives for the purpose of acquire raw materials because they believed they were racial superior.

@@NugicusStreetPhotography The European imperialist take land because land is the basis of independence!! That's what the State of Israel did! Just like in the USA whites took land without respect to native American people wether they directly occupied it or not. The state of Israel's leaders were seen as foriengers coming into Palestine in numbers settling in. That land belonged to them. But you see it differently because you have favor to the state of Israel and think like an imperialist. This has nothing to do with white supremacists like in Germany and the Nazis. This has nothing to do with resources of the land . It's the land itself that was taken by foriengers ( state of Israel) that the Palestinian people resist against. The State of Israel saw that the Palestinian people could not defend their land so those Jewish leaders had no respect for them.

Really ? I never even thought about that possibility, but I believe there is a narrative the U.S. would want. I never saw this interview until now an surprisingly it appears quite a bit of Americans liked his answers. I saw the interview with Ayatollah Khomeini and it was not like this. They had to submit their questions before hand and some were said to be unacceptable. They even said if there were any crazy or silly questions that the translator would not even translate them. Here it's clear that Ahmadinejad is very clever and a controlled man. The reporter tried to get a rise out of him, but he couldn't.

I have nothing against Islam specifically, but this is completely false and ironically he is lying. Taqiyya allows for lying in Islam, especially to non-muslims. If they believe that the sin of the lie is justifiable, as it is for the benefit of Islam, then they may lie however they like. Taqiyya essentially enables lying to any non-Muslim at any time. Muhammad lied to the Meccans, he signed a 10 year peace treaty, then broke the treaty and murdered the other party only 2 years later. So... The prophet of your religion has lied MANY MANY times. Please explain how Muslims may not tell lies.

@@ihs51 I would never expect western politicians or media to be anything less than hypocritical. They're barbarians. We now see their true demons coming out through their tantrums because the world is shifting towards a multi polar system, and thank God for that. Evil must know it's place and be put there, even if they go kicking and screaming.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad may have many, many faults but I am pretty sure he is not a fan of the Taliban/911 attackers/Al-Qaeda because Iran and Ahmadinejad are Shia and the enemy of the Taliban/911 attackers/Al-Qaeda who are Sunni who have attacked Shia Muslims. Did the interviewer even know such a basic detail as this??

At 11:56, Scott Pelley was rightly called out on what he was doing with the interview. You see, this was during the Bush era & this's a 60 Minutes interview with Iran's then president, it tells the gist of what one needs to know about the main stream outlets & their covert links to the intelligence agencies & the military industrial complex. The US is the invading party here, & Pelley's acting as if we are the ones being invaded (Iraq) or the ones being surrounded (Iran) by the invading forces. He's interviewing Ahmadinejad with the outright hawkishness of the neocons. Also, when these main stream outlets do political pieces on the approved internal affaires here, they do it from a neolib point of view. What a bunch of shameless tools they are, & they are proud of it too. Propaganda is what we get for news.

Exactly lol. Messed up. These mainstream media outlets are no different to state media outlets under the guise of "free media" just because they happened to be owned by US corporations (closely linked to the US government) instead of being directly owned by the government itself.

The difference between Iran and the US is that Iranians actually know what their ideology is about. Even though the majority of Iranians aren't fond of the regime, they know that Iran is the only country in the region that managed to maintain stability and peace and in some way, they succesfully won their land back from the Americans (from the view that the Shah's Persia was an American puppet state). Point is, the Iranian mindset is very dangerous for the West, because we can safely assume that when the regime is gone, Iran will still maintain its independent position.
