That's an interesting workflow: sketching, then coloring, then refining. Most people sketch, ink, then color and use masks but this is a pretty good option too because it's more like traditional painting. It's a hassle having to deal with a lot of layers and masks so I feel like using this workflow would work well if you're just trying to relax and draw.

Digital art used to be like this in the old anime industry. Before layers became a thing. I guess some people just like still doing it.
Sou apaixonado por mangá, um abraço bem apertado aqui Brasil, e parabéns pelo trabalho INCRÍVEL. Ps: Wacon ajuda a gente, aqui o preço é muito abusivo!
Breaking down the way he manages his layers First he uses a single layer for the rough sketch that he's gonna then clean up 2 - Under the sketch layer he makes a layer where he's gonna lay the colors, he makes a layer for each distinct part of the body. A layer for the hair, a layer for the skin, eyes, accessories etc 3 - He then adds more details to the sketch with the colors added in 4 - Then he flattens everything 5 - And proceeds to clean up the flattened result even more, erasing the unnecessary parts like a sculpture and make the different elements of the drawing less scratchy and im personally stopping there bc that's all I needed to know, how he manages the first steps of his paintings
