I hate to admit it but this was my favorite cereal of all time. My brother was a huge Ninja Turtles fan and I hated them as a child. He begged my mom to get the cereal one day and I was hooked. I miss it so much.

I used to eat this cereal, it was made of win. I remember when it came with a board game on the back which you could collect and for the whole thing outof 4 boxes, also, it used to bring turtle heads for your pencils, which I must still have around home somewhere. The best cereal ever! I miss it badly.

The cereal I remeber most was "OJ" I always wanted to try that cereal. My grandmother kept offering me "O.J." and when I heard it I got so excited to get that cereal I always felt so dissapointed when I found out that, "O.J." meant "Orange Juice."

I can understand opening an old box of cheerios or shredded wheat from 20 years ago and eating that, but ANYTHING with marshmallows from 20 years ago is going to not only taste disgusting but could actually get you sick due to the chemical breakdown of the artificial flavoring over time.

1:44 Actually, Purina used to make Chex, until they sold it to General Mills back in the late 90's or so. This likely explains why this cereal is essentially "Chex with marshmallows".

Yes, Ralston-Purina used to make cereal. Really, if you think about it, there isn't much of a difference between cereal and kibble: they both consist of ground up grains with flavors and chemicals added, pressed into shapes. Also, they were the original manufacturer of Chex (General Mills bought it from them in 1997). That doesn't just look like Chex in that box, it probably IS Chex.

Ralston Purina's Human Foods Division has been around for many years, and is still around under Ralcorp as of 1994. They make food products for grocery stores; store brand of Oreos for example. As already mentioned Chex was originally a Ralston-Purina brand introduced in 1937 but Purina was producing breakfast cereal since 1902.

My favorite 80s cereal was Pac-Man. It was basically Kix with marshmallows, and it was a tasty combination. Something else they really need to bring back is Marshmallow Rice Krispies -- those were the bomb.

I remember getting that cereal when I was a kid, and also remember it not being that great... but when it comes to cereals of that genre, the Nintendo Comics System (both flavors, but especially Zelda) was AWESOME

@trans8010 As for the history of Ninja Turtles Cereal the brand was introduced in 1989 and continued to be stocked on shelves until 1991-1992 when the popularity of the Turtles began to dwindle. The cereal was a lightly sweetened Rice Chex cereal with Marshmallows in the shape of a turtle and the weapons a star, sai, katana, and bo staff later on the pizza shape would be added. The main thing people remember were the premiums mainly the cereal bowls and mugs attached to the box via shrinkwrap.
