The wave analogy is one of my favourites for what I go through. Since I can't swim, it's even more fitting. I can confirm that parents just think you're lazy. My mum calls me it all the time. I've been battling depression since I was 13. I had a high point where I thought it was over at 19 until I was diagnosed with asperger's syndrome. That felt like a huge, cold wave hitting me straight in the chest. It wasn't enough to drown me, but it shocked me hard. Two years on and I'm now coping with borderline personality disorder and anxiety, but friends helped. I swear if one of my friends - who I'd known since Year 2 of First School - hadn't swapped Universities from Aberdeen to a local one, I probably wouldn't be here now. Last year was hard. All but 4 or 5 of my friends had gone off to Uni and here I was stuck at home, not going anywhere because I flunked my A levels due to mental health problems. I felt like I had nothing. I've tried the medication, but stopped it due to an attempt to OD. The only thing keeping me going is the hope that one day, I can get a hand to get up, brush the sand off and move away from the water's edge. And I know my friends can help that to happen. Keep your head up, man. You're probably aware anyway, but a lot of people care about you :) Even if it's just some stranger on the internet.

Depression is a difficult thing to deal with with support, and unthinkable on your own. Having had depression for the second half of my life, I was overcome by how you spoke about this subject. I'm glad those feelings can be put in to words for others to potentially understand what it's like. It's painful to have all of that inside and not know how to bring it up. I'm happy to hear you have your good days! I hope things keep getting better for you (and anyone else reading this!).

I hate the people who say, "If you wanted to get better, you would." They have no idea what it's like. I'm fucking trying so damn hard. To anyone out there who is depressed, stay strong. I can't really say much more. Don't feel pressured to make any videos, take whatever time and do whatever you need to do. I know how it feels to spiral after a failed relationship or friendship, and you're right. You need to find someone who is a constant, who will always be there for you.

I'm glad going off the pills has worked for you. As a fellow depressive, I recommend that patients keep their psychiatrists up to date. If any of us get to another bad patch, we should try something else. Not all drugs are the same. Not all care givers are the same. Feel free to fire the therapist, psychiatrist, or drug and keep looking for something that works. Talking helps. The more that people are aware of this reality, the better chance we have to actually manage this crap.

I can relate man I've been struggling for along time with depression and anxiety. I had some shit happen to me as a child and teenage years , im 33 now and I've been a really hard life . My close friend was killed in a motorcycle accident wen i was 15 and I became an addict and my life worsened day by day . Until i was 24 and i met a dude who had been im my situation and had been able to turn it around , he was like a mentor to me ! I was making so much progress under his guidance I could see i was leaving the darkness finally and then suddenly at 45 he had a massive heart attack and died i was crushed I haven't been the same since . You are so right about having people in your life as a support network it is the only reason I'm still alive today. Iam very empathetic also im extremely smart and very observant and caring at the same time all those are hindered because of how i feel every hour of everyday . In saying all that im here for you too i will support you all the way . It takes alot to tell people about it so build confidence on that !!!

I'm glad you got mostly out of it... I've been there too, but I had a therapist instead of medication... The probably worst part for me is the dread that it might come back one day and I won't be able to get even through the day. It is kind of funny that scary movies and stories help me by letting me forget my dread momentarily due dreading something else.

The worst thing for me is when I finally open up to someone I trust, they downplay my feelings. Don't ever downplay someone else's feelings just because you don't understand them. That really sucks. When that happens, it just makes you want to shut down and shut others out. I try very hard not to do that but it's hard trying to find someone who you can trust.

I have been depressed for most of my life now and older than you so let me tell you about the most important things I have learned the hard way so others don't have to. 1. Don't isolate yourself 2. Depressed people are sensitive, use it to fuel creativity 3. ssris don't work for most people 4. Do not look for external sources (people, money, material items, etc.) for happiness or validation, it comes from within. 5. avoid drugs and alcohol, they will keep you from healing and will actually make things worse. 6. some people are better at giving support than others so don't take things personally if some friends or family are reluctant to talk about feelings.

evan richards Like I said, support. You need to surround yourself with people who care, people who can drag you out of it. Friends, Family, anyone. And you need to find someone you can TALK to without feeling judged. They can be online, or live right down the street. Just as long as you have people who really care about you.

evan richards i have bipolar depression and ive had it for as long as i can remember. im a cheerful person 7 times out of 10. im 16 and i "longboard my depression away" if that makes any sense. whenever i feel the "water touch my toes" as he says in the video, i ride my longboard for hours on end and it almost always pulls me out. he says making the videos on here is a sort of therapy for him. my point being find something to let you breathe as well as someone to talk to. thats what i find has worked for me for 5 years and im surviving without medication. everybodys different so try a lot of different things

I really try my best to encourage him and keep his spirits up but sometimes he's just too much and he doesn't take medication because he says it don't work. However he is still alive he use to talk about death alot but it's gotten less and he let's me know that he would never take his own life so I'm happy about that. Well I'm glad your keeping up the good fight with your depression I hope your ok and you continually get the support from your family, friends and therapist even if the wave overwhelms you can endure it.

I always enjoyed your story telling, probably my favourite channel for telling creepy pastas. A lot of what you say here strikes a chord with me, but yeah, try not to use anti-depressnts and try to deal with what's making you sad. Winston Churchill says "when you are going through hell, keep going" Try to stay positive and notice when you let negative thoughts and feelings into your mind and say no to that. If it's any consolation, you are super young! and have your whole life ahead of you! Whole experiences, stories and friends you haven't met yet! (I'm a 29 year old male).

Honestly I've had clinically diagnosed depression for 2 and a half years now, i'm 17 and i hate admiring that i do in fact have depression because i don't want to be associated with those liars that like to lie about having a serious mental illness. It gets worse when your teachers also think you're lying about your other illnesses like mine fore example: Asthma, Depression, MPD/BPD, and ADHD. they will still make you do the things you can't do.

Think about the word depression for a second. De-press. Depression. A depressed person doesn't do much but be up in their head. I've experienced some shit in my life my friend, and don't get too affected by the outside world. Know that nothing in this world lasts forever. I'm fully aware that people i now know may not be in my life later on. The problem is getting too caught up in the bad things in life. It's all about perspectives. When you zoom all the way in on a zit on your face all you can think about is "oh its so ugly, people will see it, eww". But when you zoom all the way out and actually see how your life is and how beautiful it can be, then you will experience a euphoric type of happiness. Getting too caught up in the story about the problems is what causes distress and depression. Notice im calling it a story, cause thats what it really is, thats what everything is. Keep telling yourself one story and you will find yourself in one.
@MrHfeet19 жыл бұрын
Predalien Hansen I wish these thoughts and perspectives would be more open to everyone. Me? I don't get caught up in anything but the moment. I live in the moment, i thank whatever caused me the experience and then i move on. I simply just dont get caught up in the bad thing. I'm not saying that you should be unemotional, because thats the worst thing you can do really. Emotions are nor good or bad, they are simply just your unconncious self trying to tell you something. Here are a few KZbin channels that might help you with all of this: Elliott Hulse, Actualized.org I hope what i said made some sence.

depression....I went threw it im 27 now... and as most people I didnt know how to control it...until now its very simple I cant believe I didnt think of this years ago, dont think about thw suicidal thoughts make sure you are always and yes I mean ALWAYS with someone at times you will feel like ending it so u will need someone there to stop you and comfort you make SURE you are not in a relationship I CANT stress this enough this is vital. go on social medias flirt with girls or boys (depending on ur gender) do NOT have any feelings always keep it mind that these girls (if ur a boy) are bimbos fuck and duck as id say... go to partys socialising is KEY never put a fake smile and pretend your okay this will eat you up slowly or quickly....always ....ALWAYS express your feelings talk to someone thats going threw depression it will help you. knowing that someome knows what your going threw do not go around telling everyone ur depressed especially if your in school noone cares in school trust me. teachers as well. they will call social serves on your ass thats one of the reasons why I dropped out. if this fails which I highly doubt... then stick it out time will heal all...all wounds, if that fails weed is the way to go never try cocaine or other drugs weed is the best drug that will help searh up weed therpy if your in the U.S if not then buy it illegally. and make sure when you do smoke that ur with friends start smoking by your self in a year or after you tried it for a year just incase you get them fucked up emotions

This my view on these pills, coming from someone who is diagnosed with depression, they give you a false sense of security and make you feel like it will all be fine and dandy, and they don't, I'm in the process of trying to come off them, I don't think I have had it as bad as some, I just have a family history of depression on my moms side and anxiety on my dads, this is kind of an unguided rant but set goals let yourself see the future, I dropped out of high school to get myself out of the anti Christian environment and become a welder, the past few months have been great, this might just be my republican side talking but I honestly feel that those pills make it worse and harder to get rid of, but I really do hope that you get better and have a good life, and keep up the good videos

Oh, God, yes. I'm studying in a medical institute and it always bugged me that most people are not considering depression to be a medical condition, unlike other neural system deceases like schizophrenia, epilepsy, narcolepsy etc. Please stay away from opiates like Tramadol, Promedol - that stuff is Really addicting. Valium is kind of better, but still a shitty medication to take overall like any chemical that messes with your neural system is. And yeah, dealing with decent people helps a lot when you have a depression
