Three percent of it left...Oh gawd, heartbreaking. Reminds me of the Caledonian forest in Scotland which once was covering the whole land, and now what remains of it is such a tiny part... With high appreciation for your work, wish all who try to protect the unique bogland all the very best ❤️

Hey, this is a fantastic video, would it be okay if I use some footage in an upcoming video? I promise I'll credit, but let me know if you would like anything more.

Dear Tina, What a moving video tribute to Ireland's boglands. I found it searching for visual context for Heaney's bog poems from North, and am eager to share it with students. I hope that's OK; I'll credit you, of course, and usually 'educational purposes' means it isn't a breach of copyright. Thank you for your inspiring work

You must mean raised bogs ,because they are 800 sqkm of blanket bog in mayo alone and probably the same in donegal.

Yes raised bogs!! Not specific enough in the film...thanks for pointing it out

Coal now at 35euro for 40kg Bayg it's easy to understand why people have no choice but to exploit the bog rather than being held ransom for events that happen out of their hands.

I used to hate bogs because I've always loved forests instead, even I have come to understand how (bogs) are wild and beautiful, but like the great native oak forests we once had we have also destroyed much of the great bogs as well, even thousands of acres of useless Sitka spruce trees were planted on bogland, and this still continues to this day

Yes it's a real shame

Shame on the people for exploiting nature destroying what needed thousand of years to come into existence. I hope they pay for their crimes in some way.
