Always remember Ireland was NEVER meant to be "Catholic" Ireland, Christianity was brought to the island. It only became "Catholic" Ireland to feel different from "Protestant" Britain (which is weird since Britain has a history of flip flopping between being a Catholic or Protestant state). De Valera who happily sold out Collins of course would sell the Irish people to the Church. Paganism was the state before invasion of oppressive regimes, Irish pagan tradition was so strong that it shaped the church ("halloween" being in October, the same that happened with Scandinavian paganism influencing Church holidays too, they couldn't take the traditions). Ireland (at least in the south) has been moving steadily away from the church and becoming truly more independent, don't stop feeling Irish pride, we can criticise the history and events and still feel pride in our land, in other parts of our history and fight to make up for the black stains in history. Stay safe, have a lovely week.

This tells the world a great deal about Ireland and its past. Way behind the times, guilt ridden often due to the mainly Catholic Church’s stranglehold on the population. Literal crimes being committed by religious people : no accountability for their actions at all. No one dared accuse Nuns & Priests of their cruel or sexual misbehaviour. Women damaged for life having their children sold on and powerless to do anything about it. Little children suffered badly too, many of them. Looked upon as scum and treated accordingly. Ireland stand up & let the truth be known and make restitutions where you can. Stop the secrecy.

Irish government investigation summary: "Ireland was a cold harsh environment for many, probably the majority, of its residents during the earlier half of the period under remit. It was especially cold and harsh for women. All women suffered serious discrimination. Women who gave birth outside marriage were subject to particularly harsh treatment. Responsibility for that harsh treatment rests mainly with the fathers of their children and their own immediate families. It was supported by, contributed to, and condoned by, the institutions of the State and the Churches. However, it must be acknowledged that the institutions under investigation provided a refuge - a harsh refuge in some cases - when the families provided no refuge at all".

They only provided a refuge because they were paid by the state, also they had an end product, love me the illegal puppyfarmers of today, the mothers were made to sign over their children, then the nuns had them adopted mostly by rich Americans. Who were expected to donate about£ 10.000 to the nuns us an annual contribution. an even better income than from puppy farming. The orders that ran those institutions should be the ones responsible for paying the costs of Dna tests on the remains.
