Cannot for the life of me believe that people find it offensive because we have rebel songs and ballads that tell history or events and mention Our patriots . More people should take a stand and speak up. Without the heroics of the Rebels a large part of our Country would not be Free. 🍀🇮🇪✊

I'm trying to understand why anyone would be upset over the history of their own country, maybe these people in the media should move to the country that they think these songs offend, never forget where you come from and how much others have sacrificed to get you there

If people would take a few moments out of their day .. to actually listen to these rebel songs.. and learn what was actually going on.. and why they were fighting .. they might think twice about banning these beautiful songs about so many brave men .. who died for the cause they believed in.. all of these songs tell a story.. of those who deserve to be remembered.. and revered for their sacrifice.. that’s why this channel is vital.. knowledge is power.. we should always remember those who died.. to give us the chance of s better tomorrow.. thank you, Davy🌹☘️ Jen999💙

Davy, I just came upon your KZbin Series and enjoy it very much. I am a Yank of Irish Heritage but, my Irish genes did not travel to America in the way that most Irish Americans received their bloodlines. Instead of coming over here along with the hundreds of thousands of Irish during the Famine, my Irish ancestors found their way to America in a rather unique and somewhat unknown way. After Mexico gained its independence from Spain between 1810 and 1821, that country had problems with their state of Texas. First were the depredations of the warlike Comanche Indians who made it difficult for Mexicans to settle in Texas and second was the influx of the mainly Protestant Anglo Americans from the Eastern border of Texas. One bright idea of the Mexican government was to recruit Roman Catholic Irish both from Ireland and from the Eastern Seaboard of America to settle Texas on Mexican Land Grants. The Irish were facing harsh times in the Old Country and things were not a great deal better for the Irish in America. Offer of free land in Texas was very tempting for these Irish. They became Mexican citizens, and their religion was no problem since they were all Catholic. The Irish settled on generous Land Grants in South Texas starting about 1829-1830. They were recruited by Empresarios who were allotted the land by Mexico. They settled in South Texas, mainly in the area which became Refugio County, named after the Our Lady of Refuge Mission and in San Patricio County; you can guess where this name originated. The grand plan of the Mexicans did not work exactly the way that they expected. Although the Irish did form a buffer against the Commanche Indians, the Irish Texans generally took the side of Texas Independence and many of them fought and died for that cause. My third great Uncle, William Quinn died at the Battle of Coleto Creek in 1835 and many of the Texians who were murdered the next day at Goliad, after they surrendered had Irish surnames. William's brother-in-law, Timothy Hart was one of the many Irish who signed the original Texas Declaration of Independence at Goliad. My third great grandfather, Felix Hart was murdered due to his support of Texas Independence. Texas schools always teach about Stephen F. Austin but, very few Texans and, I would bet virtually no Irish know about the Itish settlement of Texas. I know that my family did not know that history until I began studying genealogy. I have lots more information about these brave Irish Pioneers and their settlement of Texas but, virtually no information of how they were recruited in Ireland and on the East Coast of America. Keep up the good work on Irish history...

Nope he's been getting abuse for not wearing a poppy , it's seen as disrespectful by people 😒 for me personally if you don't wanna wear a poppy you shouldn't have to but when your not wearing a poppy cos you're from the cregan and the poppy represents soldiers who died in Northern ireland and they were the enemy fair enough but then don't go to a country that is your enemy and be happy to get paid large wads of cash with the queen's head on it 😮you know the commander in chief of said Crown forces that's just being hypocritical

I think I said this on a different post, but I stumbled upon a video of the "Northern" Ireland football team standing for the anthem and the song that was playing wasn't The Soldier's Song...and I got super confused. I was like "no way, Davey wouldn't have given us bad info." So I checked it out and it seems that there is a second anthem... And when I found that out I boldly posted a reply to the video "fuck your colonizing fragility!"

I would love to know what was the previous National Anthem. I presume it was something like Mise Eire ? The West's Awake ? A nation once again ? The Rising of the Moon ? Admittedly, Amhran na bFiann is rousing, and deep at the same time.
