An Irish fan here, and I'm not sure why, but I'm staying quiet until the match is over. While I agree ireland are the favourite, I'm not sure the scoreline is going to reflect it as much as people think. All being well, it's be a great game!
@Kenny-zn6dl3 ай бұрын
Would agree with you 100 % if this match was in Cardiff and a year on from now, but alot of if not all the scoreline predictions are from the media with a comfortable irish win and rightly so, if Ireland can travel to south of France and win convincingly then obviously logic tells you that Saturday should be a home victory, Farrell announced a very very strong team today and unless a complete malfunction then most likely Ireland by 15 ++

Oh 100%. If it was at home, I'd feel a little safer. But even with an England team not firing on all cylinders, when they are against Ireland, they usually show up, and in Twickenham, I don't really think Ireland go into that game with a handicap whatsoever.@@icemanire5467

The difficulty with playing a young team (especially with some gems in), is they are largely an unknown quantity, and will have a cut from anywhere. Ireland need to focus on their own game and unlike the Scots in the 2nd half vs Wales, not allow the opportunity for organized chaos. Both of which I'm sure AF and the coaches will have drummed into them.
@bikeman98993 ай бұрын
IRL fan here. While im cautiously optimistic for our guys, i expect Wales to play for the full 80, and not skip the first half as they did with Scotland. They will not make that mistake again. I expect them to spoil and try to disrupt the Irish patterns. IRL for the win, but closer than pundits seem to expect.

Pretty much agree on the combined selection. . .if Mack Hansen was fit it'd be a 'green sweep' - Ireland squad look 20+ points better on paper. . .but we don't play on paper! Some in the meeja are getting way ahead of themselves - this Ireland team won't! Farrell has fully respected this Wales team with his 6:2 selection - he'll challenge this squad to go out and perform from the 1st whistle to deny Wales any sort of foothold in the game - with the bench proving the difference. . . Ireland by 15-20 🤞 Ireland 35-18 Wales

Nobody is expecting Wales to win this game, or even get close to Ireland, but I'm sure they love the fact that they're very much the underdogs as it will take a lot of pressure off them and allow them to play their game. Though I think he's really a 10, I am genuinely glad to see Frawley get a start, and he's plenty of experience at 15 at Leinster. Surrounded (largely) by Leinster players and with Lowe especially beside him, if he nails his first few high balls (because you know Wales are going to test him) I think he'll do fine. Plus...his boot is almost as long as Lowes! Going forward, and with the return of Mack Hansen (eventually), maybe it might be worth having a look at Nash at 15? I know he's only played there once for Munster, but the lad is brilliant under the high ball, has pace aplenty and is a genuine attacking threat in space. If he could get the positional nous in place, he would be excellent cover for Keenan.

Huge learning curve for our young guns come saturday and one they should take alot out of. Even as a patriotic Welshman I can't see past an Ireland win but I am sure we can cause a few suprises and come out with our heads held high. The exposure our younger guys are getting in this years 6 Nations will surely bode well for the not too distant future and when you add in the players we are missing through injury, we can look forward to Australia 2027 with alot of optimism! Our 23 could be looking something like this going forward, which is exciting! 1 - Gareth Thomas 2 - Elliot Dee/Dewi Lake 3 - Tom Francis/Kieran Assirati 4 - Daf Jenkins 5 - Will Rowlands 6 - Aaron Wainwright 7 - Jac Morgan (c) 8 - Taulupe Faletau 9 - Tomos Williams 10 - Sam Costelow/Ioan Lloyd 11 - Rio Dyer 12 - Nick Tompkins 13 - George North 14 - Josh Adams 15 - Cameron Winnett 16 - Dewi Lake/Elliot Dee 17 - Corey Domachowski 18 - Kieran Assirati/Tom Francis 19 - Teddy Williams 20 - Tommy Reffell 21 - Gareth Davies 22 - Ioan Lloyd/Sam Costelow 23 - Mason Grady Not to mention the likes of Taine Plumtree; Christ Tshuinza; Alex Mann, who has showed up really well so far and Joe Roberts to name a few and also the youngsters Dan Edwards; Morgan Morse and Theo Cabango who will hopefully get involved in the summer tour. The future looks quite promising, and with Gat's at the helm until Australia 2027 we could be amoung the worlds elite once more. CYMRU AM BYTH.

Anything other than a 30 point win is a disappointment. There are levels and it’s time the Irish started acting like it, Ireland can play their best and win by 40, Wales can play their best and lose by 15. Being thankful for a bonus point win isn’t the mentality that’s going to drive success any more. A statement win (30+ points) followed by 2 more statement wins is the requirement from now on, otherwise what’s the point in playing the game, realistically?

Yeah form and experience it has to be Ireland. Munster fans are suggesting Bealham not selected becasue of new Baby, but don't buy it. Not after a down week, and at his stage of career, and putting together his best form in a Green jersey. No way his missus is saying, make yourself unavailable. He's the form TH in the country, no disrespet to Furlong who is a sound lad, but a shadow of the player since the back injury that kept him out for months, nowhere near his levels since Lions series loss in SA. He''s still only 31 so should be at his peak, but his minutes per game is way down in last few seasons. And what has Jaeger done in Seven games (4 starts, avg 33mins) for Munster to warrant Ireland shirt, not like he was a certain starter for Cusaders (19/53 starts in his career). I get that Bealham and Furlong are wrong side of 30 now, but shades of Michael Bent about the Jaeger selection. A lad who was dreaming of an All Black shirt until he missed out on RWC Squad (to his clubmate) last summer, jumps ship and lands ahead of other IQ TH's....?

I think the ref is Wales' best friend on Saturday. If he let's Ireland hit their top gear for 80, it's gonna get ugly. The hope will be he breaks up their flow for as long as possible. Even if he does, I can't see it being enough.

Baird could probably do a job on the wing in a serious pickle

No chance Grady gets in ahead of McCloskey!

Purely because he can cover wing, not in a straight shoot out as centres.

Henderson is injured Tim (foot) which is why he is absent.

Appreciate it...thanks for the heads up

Even if he wasn't it is doubtful he would've made the bench ahead of either Ryan or Baird due to the latter's versatility. With Ahern coming up on the rails as well, shows you the depth in the position currently in the country.

You may well have a point there, but it shows the depth of talent we have that a Lion cannot be assured of his place.

I think the combined 23 is unfair to Ireland tbh, both Nash and McCloskey would get into the welsh squad
