It was the Winter of 1982. I was on a D10, leaving the USA in Eastern Airlines flight from Richmond to LA, before the long flight back to Australia. I heard this for the first time on that flight just played it the whole flight, thinking about the teenage crush I had on a Richmond girl I had met on vacation, who would be come a pen friend for 30 years... This song takes me back to that moment, brings all the feelings. Chills!

Well I'd like to thank you so very much for sending in your comment and I have to say a 3-year crush off of this particular record my goodness.. how interesting and exciting. Well did you end up getting married or what happened. Well I'm sure you heard the news right now that unfortunately our Angel is no longer with us, I'm sure you probably heard that she passed away on Friday the 25th, one day right after Thanksgiving. If I'm hearing about the news was devastating and we still don't know it happened. They said that they had found her dead in her home, at 63 years of age the first they were saying 62. And then upon reading your comments and you're having a 30-year pen pal relationship and you would just play the song all the time wow how very interesting I'm so glad that you enjoy her as well as her music. Yes all of this came as a shock and if you listen to that song as much as she said you said you did I know it had to have come as a shock to you as well. You know it's really funny because I never heard the song before, however I watched a concert that she had in Japan after hearing the news about what had happened, and she sang the song in Japan. So I picked her system to see if it was still there and yes it was and that's how I saw your comment. Well if you could please contact me back because I would like to know your take on the situation, and also it would be interesting to know what happened after playing the song for 30 years did you end up marrying the young lady or what happened.. I'm so sad to learn of Irene Cara's passing today. She was a voice and a talent from a certain time in our lives. This song will always be one of my favorites, as whenever I listen to it, it automatically takes be back to a sweeter happier time in my younger life and reminds me of dear friends that were lost to the raging AIDS epidemic happening back then. She said she had a coke habit back in the day but she didn't seem like a junkie. Or maybe she tried it again after all these years and her body couldn't take it. Did somebody kill her?!? An obsessive ex or current lover. Or maybe a stalkerish fan. I doubt at this stage in her life she was a sacrifice for the Illuminati so we can probably rule them out. God forbid our Sister died alone on Thanksgiving day of heartache and loneliness. Did she have family? Where were her friends? What about her group Hot Caramel? Where they at? Well first of all today is not really like any other day because as you know we lost I mean sure on Friday one day after Thanksgiving. I know that you enjoyed her music enter talent due to your comment, and you had also said quote unquote the young kids of today don't even know what real talent is. Well I do agree with you in so many ways, I guess it's the sign of the times, the lack of not wanting to listen not bringing, in the world in general is just changing unfortunately. I know that when I heard this shocking news today about Miss Irene Cara I was really taken back before, because she was like the sister that I never knew and as a young teenager,, I looked up to her very much so. And the Song which is simply beautiful, I had never heard before, until I came in early early this morning, and after hearing about her loss I immediately pulled out a concert that she did in 1985, in Tokyo Japan and it was excellent. She sang this song, and because I liked it so much I said that I was going to look to see if we had it which we do. I have been playing this song off and on between working all day today, and I have to say if I me hit me and I broke down and started crying, and this was after I did a long comment about her in comments and I guess at the end of the day because I was involved with contacting listeners at the station as well, and I guess everything is kind of caught up with me in the moment. I was a friend of hers she started in the Me nobody Knows when she was 10. I went to opening night when it was on Off Broadway. She slept over my house. We had the same Jazz and Tap teacher (Phil Black) and vocal coach (Al Greiner). Her mom and my mom worked together as ushers in Broadway theaters. Irene and I used to go to the theater after our dance classes. Im heartbroken by her passing. She was a wonderful person.

Back in the 1980s, I never heard of or heard this song. Only with the internet have I been able to find thousands of songs from the 1980s and other decades to enjoy. Only in the past year or so, with internet searches, have I been able to get the album this song is on. Back then music choices were severely restricted to what was aired on the radio (too often the same 50-60 hits in a year) or what few cassettes/records one could buy from the stores (which carried limited titles).

Hi ! It's all very sad, such a dear and good singer left us, much too soon! I was 19 years old when I saw the film in the cinema, it shaped my time, it was the time when I got my driver's license, it was on the radio when I had my first driving lesson, I couldn't get up because of the beautiful song concentrate on driving, which made my driving instructor angry! :-)) All in all a very nice time, thank you Irene Cara for making us happy in the 80's with your songs. One of the best singers of the 80's has left us, Irene, you will always be in in our hearts and your music will continue to accompany us through life. I love this song so dearly my memories with this song was when I was in high school and I used to sing this song and out here on my own and another one of her songs called I sing The Body Electric but those were the main songs that I usually sang of hers the funny thing was I got stopped in the hallway before class so many times and people would ask me to hit a few notes before I went into the classroom or they grabbed me up at lunch time and so forth they used to say I looked a lot like her in which I was honored because she was such a beautiful spirit just so full of energy and love and was a very genuine person I enjoyed singing her songs because they were so beautiful and so was she I was just totally devastated to hear of her passing because she gave me so many wonderful memories with my high school friends when we did our shows and quite a few times we had her songs Incorporated in our shows so it's just really really heartbreaking to me but I'm very thankful for the memories she allowed me to have may God Rest her soul may she rest in peace and my condolences to her family friends and fans she's going to live forever and she now has learned how to fly lighting up the sky like a flame and we're all remembering her name💔😥😞💯🙏🌹🌹🌹🌹
