RIP Irene. She just recently died. I thought that was the reason you were doing this one. THIS was one of my most favorite songs back then. OMG. I played it over and over and over and over again. And then over again. LOVED IT. Made me feel good. Sang it at the top of my lungs. Just love it. If you haven't yet, you should check out Flashdance too

This whole movie is a good one! Irene Cara is EXCELLENT in this movie, she plays Coco. You guys will both love that movie. And if you're New Yorkers, it's even cooler, it's a great time capsule of the early 80s, along with The King Of Comedy, After Hours, Desperately Seeking Susan, Broadway Danny Rose, and Something Wild. Definitely watch "Fame"! And if you like "Fame", there's an even better movie, totally mindblowing: "All That Jazz", from 1979. Check 'em out when you want to unwind with a movie! You guys will LOVE those two! (You'll probably love ALL those movies I just mentioned)

There's a book called "A Fine and Pleasant Misery" that talks about how some of the hardest times make for the best stories, thus best memories. The 70's and early 80's were like that. They were some rough economic times, but out of that pain came some great music, and great memories.

Chod did react to her other big hit "What a Feeling" from the movie Flash Dance from the early 80s. This song is from the movie Fame, which was also from the early 80s and Irene Cara was in. It was also a TV series, which she wasn't in. I'm really bad with song lyrics, but this is one song I know the majority of the lyrics.

You have to watch the movie, it's sooo good. It takes place in a performing arts high school (one that actually exists) and show a group of kids going through all 4 years. Irene Cara is one of the main characters. All different kinds of performers, acting, singing, dancing, musicians. It's funny, sweet, emotional, lots of incredible performers. The dancing scene with the guy and girl is one of the auditions to get into the school, with the main character Leroy. Watch it!
