My dog got in the carrier as soon as l put it on the floor and when l put it on the bike she was happy to get in I didn't have to go through the training my dog loves bike rides. I have a 9lb Maltese she fits in with lots of room to spare. she's able to lie down, turn around, and not be squeezed up. I love the large basket and pet carrier

Love the way y'all have been conditioning Louie to the carrier; slow/patience is the key. Making it non-threating is mandatory. I've been conditioning my 18-mo old Chihuahua to a new travel crate for the car; much the same way y'all are doing it. Really enjoy your vids, guys, you do a fantastic job. Looking for more! Looks like Louie is doing great. I am not a big fan of the wire crate however, our little guy got his jaw stuck - it was horrible. So we bought a Diggs crate, much much safer, you might want to google the company, we saw it on one of the puppy training KZbin channels- so glad we got one.

Chris and Aaron, great video as always and love seeing Louie on the bike. When he outgrows the carrier keep an eye out for a used Burley kids trailer. We found one in our neighborhood and I converted it to a dog trailer by putting a piece of 1/4” plywood covered with indoor-outdoor carpet. I put a cable across the top to connect a short lead to Toby’s car harness. We did 20 miles on the Sparta-Elroy Bike trail last week and saw a bunny, a deer and a fox. Toby’s a 25 lbs. Cairn Terrier and loves riding. The trailer folds down and has quick release wheels if you need it to be flat. Fits in the truck bed. Good luck and love seeing you guys having so much fun!

Hello Chris and Aaron! Oh my...little Louie gets cuter every time he is on a video! This is an awesome concept to bring your hairy buddy with on rides!! Very cool! Ha...I was testing on of my neighbors ebikes last fall; I had run into them while walking Remy around town. Remy had never been next to me on a bike, so it was a new experience. He was off leash, so I let him tag along. Oh my...how fun!! He zipped along, pretty much in a heel with me on the bike! I fully expected him to zip around and cut me off. So, since there is no carrier big enough for him, I look forward to it again! [Maybe on our own ebikes some day!!] Safe travels!!

I found your channel researching ebikes. When you got a puppy I wondered what was going to happen to the bikes. I did end up purchasing a Radrover 6+ and one of my first accessories I purchased the large basket and pet carrier for my 19 pound dachshund to use on the front of my bike. I ment to suggest it earlier but you beat me to it. My 6 year old dog is use to riding in a basket so I only use the bottom of the pet carrier. We ride daily to the Indian River lagoon here in Florida, an area I have seen you visit in your blog. Good luck with Louie, try it on the front you will have a little more control.

That is a very nice carrier and you’re doing the training in the proper manner to make it easy on Loui. I did the same thing with my dog but I had to buy one of the pull behind your bike dog carts because she is 35 pounds. She loves to ride and when I leave the top unzipped she keeps her head out and watches where we’re going. It took about a week to get her used to it but now she loves to go. 👍🏻❤️🐾

We had a carrier with that type of mesh and with all the small/tiny holes (so to speak) it looks like there would be plenty of ventilation, but we think maybe the coating on the mesh restricts air flow compared to plain mesh on our other carrier. We saw someone use a small battery operated fan that they attached to keep the air circulating & that helped. Just a tip.

About the velcro straps over the 'x' frame of the rack -- try pulling the velcro strap out of the rectangular ring, put the strap on the outside of the 'x-frame', then through the rectangular ring, and double the velcro back on itself. It should hold much better.

If you mounted the pet carrier basket lengthwise on the bike rather than the way you have it, would it still require you to take it off to use the bike carrier?
@IreneIronTravels2 жыл бұрын
Yes, We can fit the bikes on the carrier (and covered) if the basket is lengthwise.

I just looked at the website. I’d there a reason you chose the rad 6 vs the foldable e bike?
@IreneIronTravels2 жыл бұрын
Yes, we really like the "feel" of the full size bikes. It is more comfortable to ride in our opinion. The foldable is definitely more convenient for some travel situations, but if you have to use a rear rack the full size is the way to go!
@mrracerx83022 жыл бұрын
Nice video…. Question for you. What rack are you using on your trailer to carry your Rad E-bikes. Many racks including the Hollywood have specific disclaimers that they are not approved for use on Travel Trailers. Are you using one like that anyway or have you found an “approved” rack that will support the weight of two E-bikes? I’ve been searching…. Curious if you found the silver bullet. Thanks again for your videos!
@IreneIronTravels2 жыл бұрын
We are using the Hollywood ebike rack and it is not recommended on travel trailers. We are still looking for that perfect rack as well!! I know they have a RV version for motor homes and 5th wheels…. But not the TT….

Get a walky dog leash set up and let your dog run beside you. No need to haul a healthy dog around when they can run plus he'll sleep better and be easier to live with.

The bikes are a good idea; the carrier metal basket is a good idea but the dog is too big for that canvas kennel. when he tries to stand in it you can see hes scrunched down in it, cant stand up properly. Hes a lively enough dog, I would run the dog on a leash beside the bike for a while until you tire him out, then he will b complacent lying down in the canvas kennel.

I would not use that carrier if temps reach 80+ degrees with humidity. I would probably only use it up to 75 and no humidity. Dogs body temps are higher than humans I think around 100-101 and they only sweat through their paws and tongue while panting. Good training though on getting him comfortable with the carrier although he is a tad too tall for it with the lid on.

Thanks! Louie is actually a tough train sometimes as he is not very food motivated. But we’ve always done about 10 minutes of treat training with him a day since a puppy and that’s about all he likes. And of course like you said, part of his overall calories for the day. 😊🐾🐶
