I bought one of these back in the late 70's, for carry on my Motorcycle while traveling state to state. I dug it out the other day and it still had a canister installed. Now I know I haven't used this in over 30 years, and it still retained it's fuel, and lit right up just like when it was new. Amazing stove, and great for a Breakfast treat at the campgrounds. Also found 2 new canisters marked at around 2.78 cents, LOL. Neat old piece of History that still does a Great job.....

Great bit of kit. Mine still in regularly use in 2023 in UK and Europe. Inherited from my parents and was in use when we went on picnics over 50 years ago.

That's hilarious! This was/is my backpacking stove until I run out of fuel. I have others, but this is the one I'll be using on a trip coming up. Waaaay old school, huh?! I'm only 50. ha ha. I bought that stove in 94' and bought a case (24) fuel cans to go with it because they aren't easy to find - even back then. Well, congratulations, you made me feel super old.

Still have mine, got it back in the mid 70s from REI when I was in boy scouts, still have 1 new canister. I keep it for the memories and have since replaced with a snow peak only because canisters are hard to get at a resonable price.

Have got one of these Refills easy enough to come by in the uk The model I have has got a wind break ring around the burner and a plastic folding base to stabilise it for larger pots etc. Great little stove for backpacking or even short weekend for two stay. Great post thanks.

Had (still have) 2 of these along with a lantern. Bought 'em via Campmor in the 80's. Cartridges now impossible to find in the US. BUT, came across about 4 dozen cartridges at an outdoor store close out. Mundo cheap. This will be my child's inheritance.

I have just found my wife's stove she used when doing her Duke of Edinburgh awards back in the 1980s. There appears to be two or three slightly different models, hers uses the smallest size gas container which are apparently no longer available. The bigger cartridges seem to still be around. One of the searches I did for gt106 ( the small canister hers uses) someone on a back packing forum had bought a cheap modern burner, stripped it down and fitted the screw fitting to the stove burner allowing use of modern self sealing canisters. Great video. A quick update, I have found a group who keep these alive by back filling the canisters through the valve. Apparently cheap eBay camping stoves with braided fuel hoses can be screwed into where the jet screws, then use an inverted cheap butane can to fill the disposable small cylinder.

Here in Italy it's very easy to find this type of canisters and they are very cheap, around 1 or 2 €. Actually, I've got two of this stoves. One of them was used by my mum when she was young as a boy scout ('80s). I found it at home with the old canister fitted on, and it still works good.

I bought one of these stoves and a lantern in 1990 in S. California. They both were brand new and I never used them at all, but had the fuel cans attached. I found them in storage last Spring after a power outage and used them. What a surprise. They fired right up. I believe they were made in West Germany, by the language on their original boxes. The canisters are available on eBay for $4 each. The barcode on one of them is $2.25 sold then. I’ve tried to find an adapter to convert to screw-on type, but unsuccessful so far. Let me know if you find one and I will, too.

I want to follow this comment just in case someone runs across something. I just got mine today at a yard sale $5 it had a canister but it was empty. I am assuming mine is one of the later ones because it does have what looks to be male threads that maybe screws onto a tank of some sort. Sounds like to me if I can crack this code of converting it, it could be a little money involved LOL!

I have two of them. I have used them. The gas is a different mix. It's better for colder temperatures. The valve and the stem are brass so the gas does not corrode them. I don't like stoves that I have to assemble and disassembled in the field. I don't trust the thread I have bought several cannisters from different parts in the world. They make them all over the world. Not so for valve cannisters. 👍😎🇨🇦

Bro what are you talking about? Here in Germany you can get them everywhere. A cartridge costs €1.50. The original CampingGaz cartridges cost 8-13€. With the new adapters you have to buy original CampingGaz. That is the only real reason why the old bayonet connections have been abolished. And they don't explode either. Anyone who goes fishing or bushcrafting will be very well served. They are nothing for hikers anyway, because they are too clunky. I bought a brand new GampingGaz Bleuet S 200 S on Ebay for €7. Good old quality from the 80s. My son will take it with him later when he goes on tour.
