This is a totally different approach to taking the opponent down. In other words, you do not use your hands to take him down. You use a kick to get him down.
Here are the steps:
#1: Be sure to step forward to the outside line of Oizuki 追い突き. You will execute Nagashi uke 流し受け with the rear hand.
#2: You must execute the counter kick (Mawashi geri 回し蹴り) as you block. The timing here is critical, in fact, more than the power of this kick.
If this kick can distract his attention so that he would not execute his second attack or shift away. Your main counterattack is the next technique to bring him down/
#3: Without dropping the foot after Mawashi geri, bring the leg forward and upward so that you can execute Gedan yoko kekomi 下段横蹴込み to the outside of the knee.
Be sure to kick toward the knee direction, if you wish him to lose his stance.
In a street fight situation, you may choose to kick the knee from the side. By doing this, you can easily cause a major damage to the enemy.
Therefore, when you practice this technique with your dojo partner, you must be very careful with the side kick. I am sure that you do not want to harm or damage your partner's knee.
