You're very welcome. Grandma Moses is a rare human being that made the best of everything with very little and great accomplishment and yet succeeded and became a most beloved artist that left us treasures no only of her paintings but an example of a wonderful and sweetest person that ever existed. Keep up the good work with all my best! Thanks and god bless

Many of her winter scenes look like they were inspired by the winter paintings of Breugel the Elder, mid 16th.century

Thenk you for uploading this document, so far I had only known the name of this wonderful artist. I am a landscape painter myself and portrait the surroundings of my village in South-Germany, but in a more impressionist style.

Nice tribute video. Thanks for the post. I enjoyed her sharing her family photos, describing "the styles of fashion & hair" in the day. As a biology illustrator by profession, her cluttered wall & work space looks as mine! LOL.

First of all I apologize for answering late, I just noticed your comment. Glad you like it Soozi. I loved your honesty about your cluttered wall... You have something in common with Grandma Moses :-) Thank you for stopping by!

We have a painting of hers I found out its name is Joy Ride. I see it and it reminds me of Christmas. My family has lived near her by pure accident over the years, In New York and the Shenandoah Valley. We had seemed to share a lot in common.

She didn't have a "standard" painting, many different subjects, perspectives, etc. Her horses were wonderful. I wonder how much these paintings are selling for now!
@irinaki20118 жыл бұрын
+Aunt Barbara Her paintings were mainly based on a small town's houses, barns, churches etc...& on the regular making of soap, candles, maple syrup & holidays. She actually portrayed how the people lived & their towns in all aspects of a rural life. I have no idea of the price of her originals, but there are now prints available. thanks for your interest. & God bless! salam

portrait of the artist as a white-haired girl grandma moses charmed wherever she went a tiny, lively woman with mischievous gray eyes and a quick wit, she could be sharp-tongued with a sycophant and stern with an errant grand child at age 88, mademoiselle magazine named her a young woman of the year known by her nickname grandma moses, anna mary was a renowned american folk artist she began painting in earnest at the age of 78 no big studio - simply on a crappy kitchen table in the bedroom of her eldest daughter's barn the new york times said of her: the simple realism, nostalgic atmosphere and luminous color with which grandma moses portrayed simple farm life and rural countryside won her a wide following mo was able to capture the excitement of icy winter's first snow, thanksgiving preparations and the lush young green of oncoming spring grandma initially charged $3 to $5 for a painting, depending upon its size, and as her fame increased her works were sold for $4 to $6, it wasn't about the money her winter paintings are reminiscent of some of the winter paintings of Pieter Bruegel the Elder, although she had never heard of him, or seen his work - what was grandma moses supposed to know about the history of art? there emanates from her paintings a light-hearted optimism the world she shows us is beautiful and it is good you feel at home in all these pictures, and you know their meaning, afghanistan critics say the unrest and the neurotic insecurity of the present day extreme weather aggrandized by climate change denial, nagasaki treat of nuclear war, sociopaths in white houses make us inclined to enjoy the simple and affirmative outlook of little grandma moses, white-haired painter of evergreens
