Nice box playing, love those old hohner's too! Thought I'd check out how other people play Out on the Ocean after my band arranged it in our "Ambient Temperatures" set!

Those Hohner are so easy to play. I have one older than that.

Hi Paul your videos are a good source for my own box playing as I have a g,c only ,not an irish box ,so the arrangement are good to learn. I might just get d-g next instead, thanks

Very nice set, do you play the B part only on one row?

I am loving your bass work. Do you by chance have the chords/notes for the out to ocean? Nothing fancy.
@macdonaldmusic5 жыл бұрын
Kentucky Faithful are you talking specifically bass patterns or the melody too? I’ve been transposing this for a Scottish version on a piano accordion and took some inspiration from the bass here.

@@macdonaldmusic I'd love getting the bass patterns if you have them Richard

Brilliant playing!!! Is that a diatonic poker dot....ie it plays plays one note on the push and another on the pull ( with the same button)?

@@willhazell1447 Ah, thanks. And they can be chords or just bass notes?
@willhazell14472 жыл бұрын
@@Melvorgazh The left hand buttons come in pairs: one is a bass, the other is a chord. You can alternate between them in a steady rhythm, or hold them together for longer drones. One of the best elements of Paul's playing is the way he keeps things varied and lively with his accompaniments. Beginners will usually just play a repetitive oomh-pah rhythm. The other thing to note is that the melodeon is diatonic, so a change of bellows direction changes the note played.
@christaylor2070 Жыл бұрын
I don't know why the DG melodeon isnt more accepted in Irish music as the majority of tunes are in D or G or related minors [Am, Em, Bm] all playable on a D/G. How many tunes are in B or C??????? 😁

It's a DG Hohner Pokerwork.

@@paulyoungfolk but is called: an accordion, melodeon or button box?
