Lisa is a great musician and a great teacher but as well as tutoring in banjo she could tutor in stage presence and performance. She is an absolute master at that!

Hi Lisa. I started banjo two weeks ago. I have learned the first couple of tunes. Im a retired professional musician but I keep it up for fun. I love Irish music and would love to be able to play as good as you. I live near Mullingar which, as you know hosted the Flagh this year and there’s a great possibility they’ll host it next year, so I aiming to learn a few gigs and reels with your help. Keep up the good work.

Online Academy of Irish Music hiya, a banjo school started 1 week ago, but i missed the first class, this week was the 2nd week, but due to the sudden downpour of snow i couldnt make it this week either be uase the fog over the mountain was too severe, i couldnt see past my car bonnet, so i turned and came back home. getting on good with the banjo, my mom is better and needs less taking care off which allows me to get back into it.

Interested in the monthly subscription to OAIM, but worried about the ability to freely cancel my subscription. I’ve heard too many horror stories about people trying to cancel monthly subscriptions! Anyone have any experience with this?

Hi Alexandria, You can easily cancel the subscription in the My Profile section of the site. There is a 14 day trial, which is also cancelled in the same way if you don't wish to continue. Do you need an tenor banjo for irish music or will an 5 string work just as well? I want to buy a banjo for irish music but dont know wich one haha
@onlineacademyofirishmusic4 жыл бұрын
You need a tenor. Any banjo will do to start off with but if you spend a few extra bucks on a good one you will improve faster, enjoy it more and it would have good sell on value if you give it up.

Is there a special Irish tenor banjo you need to buy or any tenor banjo.
@onlineacademyofirishmusic4 жыл бұрын
Any tenor will do. Are you thinking of buying one? Set up is important, so if you buy a cheap one I'd recommend getting your local luthier to set it up well.

@@lf6352 plectrum banjos have longer necks with about 22 frets like a five sting without the drone string, and tenor banjos have 19 frets or 17 short scale,
@theliamofella3 жыл бұрын
Yes I’m pretty sure it’s a plectrum banjo, I have a plectrum banjo and a tenor banjo, plectrum banjos are usually used for jazz music, and were very popular in the 20s, I have never seen someone playing Irish music on a plectrum banjo before, you can see that it looks far longer than usual
