Interesting version but it is actually a Scottish song . Calton is now incorporated as part of Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, but originally it was a separate weaving community. A strike by the weavers in 1787 resulted in 6 being killed when they were fired upon by troops and many believe the weavers to be Scotland's first working-class martyrs. well done .

this is a scottish sang. many more "irish" sangs that are scottish and english adopted by the irish when "irish" music was just starting out in the early 60s having adopted the scottish style. (i know this because i was around then)also irish fiddle reels adopted from scotland. the proper title is ..the calton weaver.... look up the scots singer hamish imlach sing it in the ..guid scots tongue..by the way, nancy whisky was a real person. she was a scottish skiffle group singer in the 50s. onyhoo, it,s wise to research sangs before you assume them to be irish.
