‘𝗜 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 - 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 - 𝘄𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹.’
13-year old Doireann Lanigan was invited to be the voice that represented girls at the Her Sport Foundation. Her confidence and bravery to stand up and speak out is inspiring.
‘I want to share some truths with you today. So you can really understand what it’s like. I want you to know that it’s really hard to be a girl in sport. Because World, you’re really letting us down.’
1 in 2 girls drop out of sport by the age of 20. This is a statistic we can no longer accept. Sport is not just a game-it’s a tool to empower, to uplift and to create real change for women and girls across society.
The Her Sport Foundation’s mission is clear: to ensure that every girl in Ireland and beyond has the chance to play, compete, and belong. Because girls who play sport become women who lead.
