Tupelo Honey, Van's 5th studio album released in October 1971 had been written in Woodstock, NY right before he moved to Marin County, California in the San Francisco Bay area. Once again, Van proves himself to be a multi-genre singer/songwriter with tunes covering country, R&B, soul, folk-rock and blue-eyed soul. The album yielded two hit singles, the title track and "Wild Night".
