Thanks for the emphasis on grammar. As a Canadian, I'm learning Irish along with Dutch as heritage languages. I even have English ancestors, but I couldn't be bothered to relearn my first language. If I encounter Irish, it will be in literarature or music so my focus is on understanding more than communicating. Even our Gaeltacht in Ontario has no native speakers, but the Gàidhlig is in Nova Scotia is doing better.

Always such a good day when you post a new video! You really have a gift for teaching--always just enough explanation, but not so much that the main point gets lost, and plenty of examples! Go raibh míle maith agat!

(God may well rue the day that he let me get my paws on a computer). Bless you in Wexford. I won't say where I'm from as I've assured the neighbours they will not fear retaliation for consorting with the likes of me. As a gossoon I was wont to use the word "bhfuel" with a wonderful softness of the pronunciation (something along the lines of "well" for Shakespeare). Still love it, it's my favourite word and use it at least 10 times a day, ie, "bhfuel, bhfuel, bhfuel" (was never one for the spelling), but I'd be bejeezered if i knew whether I was speaking Irish or English.

Great video Dane. Now, im always at a loss as to when to use a séimhiú or an úrú on certain words. Do you think you could make a video dedicated to seimhius and urus re when to use them in certain situations eg when there is or isnt 'an' (the), prepositions, etc.

All my Great grandparents came over to America in the late 1800s … unfortunately we lost our Irish tongue.. I’m nearly 70 now and just do not retain new info …I think at this point I would have to live in an Irish only speaking community… I do have some Irish friends in Irland but they don’t speak it much only phrases here and there But my one friend told me something that really struck my heart, she said that most phrases contain a reference to God… did Slainte in old Irish have any reference to God? go raibh maith agat☘️

Oh my goodness is this where we Americans hear/use “do si do” as a describing old-timey folk dancing, where men and women link arms and go around etc. I know our country music roots in Irish music. I wonder if the phrase was Irish and we just took it as the name of the dance style?
