One of my Mum's favorites she used to sing this to me when I was little with a tear in her eye when she got to the bit 'and as we were talking of days that are gone ......' lovley.

I met him today, I was crossing the Strand, And he stopped the whole street with a wave of his hand. Speaking of The Strand, I saw these two guys playing at Mooney's of The Strand just past the Vaudeville Theatre a few times in the mid seventies. Pretty wild nights at Mooney's (sadly closed now) I recall :)

Joe Giltrap and Malcolm(what is his last name came to dine at our house, Astrids, after a gig at the Two Brewers in Wandsworth. What a great pleasure getting to know these two amazing performers!

@someawine My god, I used to go to the Hop Poles regularly - Wednesday nights - just to see Irish Mist and tip up a few glasses with a friend.

I love this group! I used to see them at The Hop Poles in Hammersmith in the eighties. I also have their tape that they sold at the gigs, pre CDs! They used to run the Sir George Robey in Finsbury Park, and put on gigs by The Pogues among others. Happy days!

Yes, I remember all their songs, I still have their tape! Rock on Rockall and Christmas in Australia, used to go to the George Robey as well, Malcolm ran that. I so miss them and The Connolly Folk and now the Hop Poles is so naff. Last time I saw Irish Mist was at the Victoria in Holloway back in 1991

@someawine Hey, me too. Regular trips down to the Hop Poles on a Wednesday evening to see Irish Mist and empty a few glasses of something refreshing with a good friend of mine. Have you heard their version of "The Green Fields of France"? Brilliant.
