It always boggles my mind whenever I see/hear someone talk about you all being Gatekeepers. Speaking about the land, I was telling a friend of mine about the Tain and how you can go right now today to the places in the Tain, that you can go to the places right now that are in the Battle of Moytura, etc. She was blown away by that.

Go raibh maith agat, Jon, for taking the time to answer my question (I’m Envihon on Patreon) and showing that I am not alone in this frustration. I have gotten farther in the game from when I first wrote this question and it gets worse. The Picts are also in the game and they worship Balor along with the other Fomorians who are depicted as giant beast men, I really faced palmed there. I was talking to someone about this when you released this video and talking about what you touched on at the end of the video. They took the stance that it would inspire people to look into the original stories but I questioned back, does it though? I feel if it did, we wouldn’t have so many bad representation that continues with each new book, movie, game, etc. Take the Fomorians for example, you mentioned that you saw them depicted as fish monsters and in this King Arthur game, they are depicted as beast men. If it was really inspiring people to take a look at the source material, I don’t feel we would have these continuing perversions of who and what the Fomorians were. So while it may inspire some to come seek out the original sources of these legends, I don’t think it’s worth the cost of continuing these bad examples since it’s clear that just mentioning them isn’t enough to get these writers to look past others interpretations to the true sources. Either way, I will continue the work of getting the original source material more attention so people can experience the richness of these myth and legends in the proper context.

I'm so grateful for the resources IPS has made available for those of us seeking truthful lore. I get so frustrated doing a serious search for something and all I get is gamer stuff that isn't reliable. I'm not dising gaming as my husband is a gamer but I wish there was more authenticity in gaming realms. Thanks for this. So much.

Thank you for a great video Jon! I'm just wondering if you have any idea of when the the trope of the fomorians(sp?) being hideous twisted monsters came about?

I'm currently working on an Irish mythology media project, and after watching this video, I would appreciate some one-time feedback and advice about creative decisions that step outside of canonical lines. I've only just learned of your school and am very glad to have seen several videos tonight by you and Lora about the ethics of working with materials native to your culture. The timing is quite fortunate. Is there a preferred way to contact you privately?

Yes. This. Fortress of Lugh, I think brought up the idea that Irish mythology is not represented by the media. And, I don't understand it either. Like you said, Jon, Irish stories are the best. Who wouldn't want to watch a movie about a sister that drowns her sister and some dued makes a harp out of the drowned drowned girls body. Then he takes the harp to the king's hall and she speaks through the music and calls out her sister. I loved that story as a kid. Also, I started thinking of a way to turn the Tain into play but set in 1983. I wouldn't dare write something like that, but I would really love to see the TBC turned into something visual, because I think it's up there with or surpassing works like the Iliad and the Odyssey

Fortress of Lugh is not an accurate source for Irish mythology, fyi, and they are thinly veiled white supremacists to boot. Avoid!

What would be your view on a genuinely accurate piece of media that focused on only irish mythology, and tried to maintain as much historical and spiritual accuracy as possible? would that be completely different, possibly a positive influence? or do you think that popular culture in general is not the right space to explore and learn about these things? Thanks for the great video!

Do you think daily pagan school classes would be classified as putting in the work

You know what gets on my nerves all the time is when people that are supposed to be historians are constantly get stuff wrong. For instance reference 90% of the material correct then throw in their own 10% of misinformation. Then the people that they're teaching spreads the wrong information to others and so on and so on. When it's not that hard for them to just do proper research and share the real stories because they are great. Maybe one day people will stop messing up Irish lore or confusing it with other so-called Celtic history from a different place that is not Ireland.

We really feel you on this Ronnie. We try be as clear on our sources as possible and take great pains to inform folk whenever we step away from the root lore to explore unique personal gnosis or our personal synthesis from the lore, but it's not always easy. All we can do is our best, and when we know better, do better. Thanks - Jon

@@IrishPaganSchool I don't see how other people or channels can get Irish lore wrong it's not that hard to reference the right material. That's why I'm so glad for you all & continue the great work 👊🏻
