Hi Paul Just to say it's hard for us over here England and Ireland to get any thing other than grey days and grey sea and sand. I would love to have your quality of light to be able to get a lift in colours and tone ,saturation! But to add more than is visually there unless you're at a level where you can see a grey blue grey yellow grey red and shift them up to the same degree together to brighten the image you could end up in the wrong place? Would you ever bearing in mind England grey light

Sorry Paul got cut off Lift the colour or stay with the grey light?

Never lift the color. Be like Ingres and find the beauty in what some think is an ugly leg. I suggest you look at my student Lindesay Harkness site if it still shows her Ireland landscapes.

Hi! How can I tell if it's a real painting that I've purchased? I know nothing about paintings but found one at a Goodwill

Start by seeing what it is painted on: stretched canvas, canvas board. If it is on cardboard it likely isn't anything. Even quite a ways back they created a textured board that looks like paint strokes but they won't line up with actual visible strokes of the brush if it is just a print. By the way this is one time you could visit a restorer or a painter and just ask what they think. They won't charge you for that.
