For the record, Granny Smith apples just go brown really fast (my grandma used to be an apple packer!). Put some lemon juice on it after you cut it and it will help them not go brown ;)

The All Ireland is a step away from a Irish Boilermaker (no cider), but you drop the shot into a 1/2 pint not a whole, and you down it before it curdles. Not unlike a Cement Mixer shot. BTW the 1/2 Guinness 1/2cider is called a snakebite. So essentially the All Ireland is a Snakebite with a Baileys/Jameson drop.

According to a suburban Chicago bar, the "Chicago River" is a mix of Green River soda and _Malört_ with a bit of lime juice & ice. (Top comment on their announcement is that it probably tastes like the Chicago River, too.) Guinness and Harp is usually called a Half and Half (also used for a bitter and mild in England), while another lager like Bass would be a B&T, as the former are both Irish and avoids the latter's connotations. Guinness and cider is a Snakebite or a Poor Man's Black Velvet (a black velvet is stout and champagne), although when I visited England they didn't layer a Snakebite.

That's not bruising on the apple slices. It's oxidation. Some varieties, like golden delicious and pink lady, don't oxidize as quickly, but if you used those you wouldn't be able to call the drink a Sean Bean Smith.

re the Green and Gold, I don't know if any of you noticed it in the studio but on screen its shade of green changed as the glasses were moved around Guinness and cider is the original mix fir Snakebite

I live in Chicago, and I do not recommend grabbing a glass of green river water to drink as a cocktail. I do recommend the Try channel come to Chicago for St. Paddy's day sometime. I'd be glad to show you around. 💚

I did have a pint in Dublin on Friday, but mainly drank a whole lot of Irish Whiskey on St. Patrick's Day.

To be fair, in the US we associate St Patrick’s Day primarily with pints as well.

Wicked funny! I live in Rhode Island, USA, and I don't like beer at all, so I always go for the cocktails on Patrick's Day.

Well, New London, Wisconsin, USA changed to New Dublin for the week, and Northport changed to North Dublin. Father Mullarky officiated and gave the blessing, so it's all on the up and up. The parade's Saturday. Shout out to our sister city in Ireland, Killaloe, in Clare County, Province of Munster. Here's to everybody having a happy St. Patrick's Day!

I must be a traditionalist, but a shot and a chaser are all I like on St. Patrick's Day.

Store sliced fruit or vegetable in water with some lemonjuice or lemon concentrate to avoid oxidation, until you serve it. Works also with sliced potatoes and similar stuff.
