The newborn pups are cute and all, but they have always peed on me when I pick them up, so annoying, but you can’t stay mad at them. (Btw my family owns 5 Irish wolfhounds.)

When I saw this video, I realised that I have actually never seen an Irish Wolfhound puppy before 😂 I usually always go and look at how dogs look like as puppies first, but I've always been super fascinated by how they look as adults, so it never even crossed my mind to see what they look like when they're young!

I'm in love with these dogs. Unfortunately, I have a tiny yard and no fence, and I know as a nurse I don't have the time needed to devote to these babies. Maybe someday. But for now, I'll just admire them and wish! ❤

I want one!! This is my favorite dog breed. Unfortunately I live in a condo with no fenced yard, so I’m not a really good option for these adorable guys. (By the way I had to take those springy door stoppers off cuz my cats kept biting them and I worried they’d break a tooth).
@wolvebriggirishwolfhounds40222 жыл бұрын
We love them so much. You don't need a huge amount of room in the house. As long as they can move freely and not bang their tail on the walls. But no fenced garden would be problematic! The door stopper's not a problem - they're not normally allowed by the front door 😊
@MrEmiosk2 жыл бұрын
Would you dedicate the time and effort to walk them, run with them, and spend time out at the parks and fields to let them run and exercise? The backyard is only needed if you lack the time and effort to allow them to do their business. My own dog refused to defecate anywhere near the house, 3-4 hours a day I spent with him walking, and then include 4 hours more of on and off playing and attention. Breeds meant for running, and especially big dogs needs athletic lives to live long, and a home where they can rest and recover, not bounce around full of energy. Generally, pick the dog by its size, the bigger, more time you need to spend walking and running, the smaller the dog, more lazing around on your arse or laying in the sofa.
@lkayh2 жыл бұрын
@@MrEmiosk it’d probably be really good for me to spend that much time walking. LOL. But seriously, I wouldn’t be a good option for bigger, active dogs. I really believe those kinds of dogs need not only to be walked daily (preferably more than once), but also a good-sized, fenced yard for when they get the zoomies and you can’t walk it off. And a house with room enough for tail wags. LOL.
@MrEmiosk2 жыл бұрын
@@lkayh true, a yard helps, but the difference is just how active you need to be. The wolfhound is a sight hound, that have been bred to run prey down. Why I say they need to be treated like athletes is the heart. Their great size causes their heart to work hard, even at rest, it is like they are under stress constantly. It is a big factor in why they die at the cusp of elderhood, aka by the time normal dogs start to slow down, and usually never reaching an age where age hampers their bodies. It is because their hearts give out. Now there are other underlying deceases that contributes to this too, but for a big dog to have the chance for a long healthy life it needs to be exercised as if they are marathon runners, and that need dedication, and training on your part to one; keep up, and two ; know how to not over do it. Too many dog owners in general misses this point when they get them. The time you must spend dedicated entirely to your dogs physical and mental health is enormous. As a solo kid being the last one out and the first one home meant it was me that took the dog on the most important outings. It was easily at the end of the day 3 hours I'd spend walking around the village and forest , a morning walk 10-20min, the after school walk 45-80min, the after dinner walk 45-120min(depending on my flavour of route that day) an evening walk of about another 30-60min, then finishing off with a before bed walk of 15-20min. Then there is the playing the attention and sheer presence you need to give, not necessarily direct attention but still where you ensure the grown pup knows it is not alone and is loved. Now all this time and effort can be split if you got other members in the house to take up the slack. Also zoomies... is a great sign you haven't burnt their energy, and dogs with too much energy(some races, especially working dogs) will tear your home apart in an attempt to spend said energy. Never had a dog do zoomies indoors, never seen or heard of one doing so if not urged on by their owners who find it funny when their dogs trying to have fun when deprived of it(moving about is the greatest fun they have)
@lkayh2 жыл бұрын
@@MrEmiosk Not always. I had a standard poodle mix as a kid-she got a TON of exercise, because she’d follow me almost everywhere. If I rode my bike for miles out to where we pastured our horses, then rode my horse for more miles, she’d be with me the whole way. She’d get home and sack out by the couch, totally worn out, but she still had a case of the zoomies every night before bedtime. And it HAD to be indoors. We’d let her out to do her business before bedtime, but no, she didn’t do it while she was out. She’d do her thing then come inside, and tear all around the house before going to my room and curling up by my bed.
