Here's for my beautiful eyes, taken from us on August 14th. I'd thought I'd sort of moved on or reconstructed my life until I heard this song, so much of our life together. We were only married 29 years; a lifetime for so many, so short to Margaret and me. Loved and missed by all who knew, her, met her and spoke to her. Oh she had the prettiest eyes to behold by anybody. Dedicated to Margaret Ellen Roberts, loved by all, missed by everybody. XXX

Christina Gough Oh sweetie you just made me cry. I lost my partner in '94 and got this album around that time. He had HAZEL eyes like yours. He thought they were like swamps I thought they were simply beautiful, he was also my soul mate..hard for anyone to match them huh? :/

Christina Gough O my word, I have just been commenting to try and get people to change how we look with "selfies" on all social sites, plus dating (I am on on one) and all that rubbish and actually look at the person....the soul is the eyes, and I don't normally comment....you have brought tears to my eyes Christina. I send you love to carry on....life is so incredibly cruel. Jan x

Line one is the time That you, you first stayed over at mine And we drank our first bottle of wine And we cried Line two we're away And we both, we both had nowhere to stay Well the bus-shelter's always OK When you're young Now you're older and I look at your face Every wrinkle is so easy to place And I only write them down just in case That you die Let's take a look at these crows feet, just look Sitting on the prettiest eyes Sixty 25th of Decembers Fifty-nine 4th of Julys Not through the age or the failure, children Not through the hate or despise Take a good look at these crows feet Sitting on the prettiest eyes Line three I forget But I think, I think it was our first ever bet And the horse we backed was short of a leg Never mind Line four in a park And the things, the things that people do in the dark I could hear the faintest beat of your heart Then we did Now you're older and I look at your face Every wrinkle is so easy to place And I only write them down just in case You should die Lets take a look at these crows feet, just look Sitting on the prettiest eyes Sixty 25th of Decembers Fifty-nine 4th of Julys You can't have too many good times, children You can't have too many lines Take a good look at these crows feet Sitting on the prettiest eyes Well my eyes look like a map of the town And my teeth are either yellow or they're brown But you'll never hear the crack of a frown When you are here You'll never hear the crack Of a frown Brilliant :)

Her calm acceptance of her condition due to her mother's birth problems was amazing! Achingly beautiful - a deep and meaningful love song, written by one of music's most underrated wordsmiths. I love the idea that each facial line represents a happy memory, and celebrates ageing and meaningful companionship, rather than lamenting it. My wife and I are now both in our 60s, but this has been "our" song for many, many years. She still smiles every time the last verse puts tears in my eyes........

@@martinklein4651 Hello, Martin - I had a friend whose hubby transferred here to work for a couple of years. We became very close & exchanged our favorite music - They were both born in Liverpool, & I ... well ... you can imagine. Anyway - She introduced me to The Housemartins, & I simply couldn't stop playing those wonderful albums, all of which I have. Then, I was told that Paul Heaton formed The Beautiful South, & I collected all of those as well. My USA friends have no clue who these great musicians are. Their loss, for sure! :)

@@boston-strong8887 Hi, great to hear from you, yes Paul Heaton is in my top four.Of course the Beatles are top.I love Joni Mitchell as well. But it's kind of reverse over here. As I am a big fan of Stephen Stills, but not many Brits know of him.

A truly great band and this is my favourite song by them. I have always thought this song represents how most of us want love to be.
