1998 PWBA Sam's Town Invitational Full Telecast

The date was November 21st, 1998! The Sam's Town Casino and Bowling Center had gone through a facelift. New lanes and masking units were installed just shortly before the start of this tournament. In this particular event, Two of the five contestants were vying for the triple crown. They were 5th seeded Anne Marie Duggan and top seeded Dede Davidson. 2nd seeded Marianne DiRupo broke a previous record of most perfect games within a tournament. The NJ Native posted 4 perfect games in this event. Previously held record was two perfectos. Last but not least, former Team USA bowler Julie Gardner was 4th seeded and the 1987 Sam's Town Invitational winner Debbie Bennett-Rinella were in this telecast. I remember that vividly as well.. I was there! I had just moved to Vegas in 1998, and surprised my friends on the tour as they last saw me 6 months prior, and showed up there right next to them. I miss this tour.

I never got the chance to bowl there when it was Brunswick equipped. I wonder why they made such a drastic change. interesting.

I was wondering the same thing, considering they had seemingly awesome Brunswick A-2's and good looking (although '80s looking, I admit) Brunswick masking units. A commenter on another video said they went from Brunswick to Heddon to AMF so maybe Heddon's collapse caused them to go to AMF.

Yeah, it looked like a beautiful Brunswick house. Heddon made no so good equipment to say the least, so maybe thats why they went away from them. I am sure AMF had something to do with wanting to have a showcase center in Vegas seeing how every other bowling center in vegas is Brunswick equipped.
