I love my XL DS9. The paint scheme, I am happy with. Hell, I guess one could argue that they should have just gone with the rusty grey on-camera paint scheme. Right? LOL.

all the studio model pics i've ever seen show it as a light gray with yellow and pale red accents...aside from the base color, the smaller Eaglemoss version "appears" to be more accurate...

Hmm, I'm torn. DS9 is one of my favourite designs in all of Star Trek so obviously I need one of those guys in my life. More detail is always welcome but I too prefer the paintjob on the normal one, decisions decisions...

Think the big difference in the looks that everyones trying to come up with is this: the XL paint scheme looks like a brand new, just finished construction Terrok Nor, while the special edition version looks like the same station but add a few decades of use to it, it looks weathered and beat up by micro space debris and solar/cosmic rays.

The studio model has the Special's muted red paint on the weapons sails and pylons, not the gold paint on the XL. How could they not get that correct on the XL? Eaglemoss quality assurance strikes again.

Great Video! My partnerr got me this for xmas and I really like it, way more substantial than the first one, though I'd have preferred more colouring on the pyons like the smaller edition.

Really love the XL version. Replaced the standard with the XL as there was no comparison for me. Gorgeous model and it comes with a stand too! Finally.

The small one is the only eaglemoss model I own. And I'd keep that over the big one... also saves on space.

I know this is off topic for this video but the runabout should have had a lot more detailing than it did. The xl version I mean. Very disappointing. DS9 on the other hand looks really nice imo.

lower pylon completely different paints the xl is all gold the regular has a more ruby red color to it

The windows on the smaller DS9 inner ring stands out more so I like that but it might be your lighting. I prefer the blended gold paint versus the red. It's hard to say what is more accurate since DS9 was shot so damn dark. I always thought of the station as a metallic medium brown cause of video games and the show.

No, it's not hard to say what is more accurate - Google "DS9 Studio Model" and see the very clear auction photos for yourself. What is correct is not up to your opinion or preference.

@@bearzilla2462 You're assuming the photographs match the video lighting etc..We can't really know unless we see all three of them side by side but I do know that Eaglemoss has taken the time to colour match some models with existing so perhaps they are both accurate depending on which season was in question.

@@bcluett1697 Agreed. The studio model may be painted one colour, but this may be to work in tandem with certain lighting. Even altering the colour termperature of white light 2700K vs 6500K may have vastly different results. Just look at the Voyager studio model, duck-egg blue, but the ship appears grey in most shots.

@@mikeward1701 Yes I find the topic fascinating. Comparing screenshots to studio models photographed and then the suggestions of model kit instructions. People often end up picking their favorite. Even the TOS "gold shirts" which were actually green. It's fun.

Dammit! This would have been a purchase but the colour is putting me off. We always see it in the dark in space so maybe the 'real station' is lighter but this looks far too pale. I am disappoint

Looks disappointing. They couldn't even get the side color of the pylons right for the XL. They had it right for the smaller but looks like they're yellow for the XL version. How the hell can you mess that up? Also why not add extra detail to the XL instead of a blown up version of the small one? Eaglemoss is really sucking these days.

I have a Playmates version that came out quiet awhile back and honestly I think the Playmates version is a better. I am a huge Eaglemoss StarTrek fan though.
