When I first opened the box I was like "WOW!" It was huge. I wasn't too crazy about it at first but after playing it in Star Trek: Legacy, I kind of grew fond of it. I just hope they XL or XXL the Enterprise-F.

I think Eaglemoss got the saucer wrong from the display in Enterprise the J was in a upper 3/4 view from the front so it only looked oval and its to narrow in the middle just doesnt seem like the oval shape Starfleet would use i think it would look better as a circle instead

Given the general structure of the vessel, her staterooms/personnel cabins have got to be single-floor bungalows with appropriate green spaces ... she is an interesting creature, nonetheless...

I always had the idea that the windows were supposed to be similar to how they are on the D, but the model was of such low resolution that the detail was lost in translation.

It looks like they captured a starship in the split second before it disappears into warp travel. When I realized that no, it’s actually what the ship looks like all the time... I was shocked. Not a fan. Great review as always but I’ll pass on this thing.

1033, 2 ships away from Discovery registry! I like watching Doug in interviews on youtube he's an imaginative person. The idea of a ring warp design sits well with me because of the earth ringship we never got to see and the Vulcan tie in. Why wouldn't human try to experiment on Vulcan design just by sizing up the technology even if the Vulcans wouldn't share.

Hopefully Discovery busts out a design like this in Season 3, even if it's just an ancient generational ship. It'd be cool to see a Federation city-ship get fleshed out with a modern model/render.

I had the opportunity once to buy the J as a standard model for a couple of quid - I passed and frankly would not dream of wasting 50 notes on the XL version. Not my fav ship. Good review.

After watching so many XL reviews, I’m pretty disappointed for the most part. They are nice, but as a whole i have always thought they should be a bit bigger when compared to the regular $25 ships or even compared to the $45 deluxe i just don’t think they are that much bigger when your paying $75

They should've done and F in XL first and we should have a Enterprise G as well before ponsing about with an XL version of the J.

@@simonwillis1529 I contacted Hero Collector/Eaglemoss about it but they seem to consider Enterprise G as a kind of joke. Which is odd considering the fan made stuff and concept stuff they have made into models.

The way the windows are on the saucer it looks like it should be spinning, but that would be stupid *cough* Discovery *cough* Don’t like that it doesn’t have the ‘J’ in the registry though.

Big fan of anything Trek, within reason - Love the Federation Models, big fan of Enterprise E, Love the Aventine and always pointed out that Aventine should get an XL version.. .. but the concept of the Enterprise J is all wrong - not to say it looks ugly! The Saucer Section is 3km across or something???.. so those windows are miles long.. the nacelles are km long as well .. not to mention they are too thin for that size of ship!

The Enterprise J is from the future with more advanced tech and materials to build with. Also probably more advanced building techniques. The nacelles alone are a couple of story's or so tall, the ship is sturdier than it looks.

Personally, I think It's just an awful design and was clearly supposed to look like a development of the NX 01 as opposed to the NCC 1701. I wonder if the designers really had any idea it would become more than just image seen briefly in the background of an episode of Enterprise. Considering the fact that they knocked it up in two days and it's seriously lacking in detail, probably not.

That's why I think it feels like an appropriate advancement. I think the tech, as it gets that far into the future, should start to feel alien, almost magical. I think the J is doing that.

Seriously, how did this horrific monstrosity become a cannon design?!? It is down right hideous and the engines look like a fancy sample stuck on a toothpick. Overall looks like a first draft that was pulled out of the trash and approved because the person looking at it was both drunk and high. Great review as always, but this ship should have been sunk in drydock.
