The DJI Mavic Air is an impressive drone! It's a foldable drone but still features a 4K camera. Mavic Air's travel size and travel weight is minimal, making it the perfect drone for adventure travelers. Despite the small size, the Mavic Air features impressive battery life of around twenty minutes. This drone is so much more convenient than the larger DJI Phantom drones. #MavicAir

The way you talk about the Mavic Air reminds me of when I got my first great mirrorless camera, the Olympus OMD EM5. I was using a full frame Nikon DSLR at the time, and this thing was so much smaller and lighter, and more advanced technology built in. And any loss in quality could only be seen if the image was greatly enlarged. I was a reborn photographer that day.

These are some of the things the Mavic Air lacks that I normally use with my Mavic Pro: Fixed-Wing mode Terrain follow Course Lock Home Lock Waypoints Follow me Portrait Mode Dynamic Home point x2 digital zoom Remote Buttons (exposure control) If they incorporate at least the Waypoints feature, I'll probably get one. What I don't know is if I'd tolerate the noise and the attention the noise atracts.

roger martin beacuse your out in the middle of the woods if course there is no interference and the Wi-Fi being responsible really your in the wood there is nothing out there to film

IF...the Mavic Pro, as it sits today, was released after the P3 Pro, I would never have considered the P4. I'm still happy with my P4's performance, but I HATE the cheapo plastic airframe which cracks from minor to moderate use. Also, I still would like the next prosumer DJI offering to have at least the camera of the P4P, actual 25 minute battery life, folding/portable design, be wind and light rain resistant AND......be manufactured out of WAY better materials. A cool design would be a plus, but not a biggie. In addition to my wants and desires, I'd like a removable battery in the RC. I know there are ways to charge out in the field, but I don't want to wait. Popping in another RC battery would be preferable to me.

Phantoms use lightbridge, better then occusync. The benefits of occusync and lightbridge span well beyond a simple range test. Lightbridge offers 1080p live feed. Occusync allows two operators, wireless Goggles, lower latency, interference handling etc. For basic close flying wi-fi quads are ok.

It's going to be interesting to see how it all pans out. I'm still shocked that the consensus opinion is that DJI will release Mavic Pro 2 at NAB instead of the Phantom 5 at NAB. It seems like Phantom 5 would make more sense for the NAB audience plus they just released Mavic Air and it seems that they'd want to see Mavic Air sales "breathe more" first.

great video! good perspective! constructive criticism .....Shade off an on on your face is very distracting. You need an outside portable light that clips on a tree. With video and photography....LIGHTING IS EVERYTHING!!!

Thank you and I need to rig that up. I already have a battery-powered panel LED light with tripod mount hole. I just need to attach that to one of those flexible tripod thingies. Lighting is definitely king!

The majority of posts mention the camera and the super high quality video and photo qualities. I don't need 4k or the IMAX looking videos. I need a UAV the size of the Phantom series with a camera which can zoom 3 to 5 times and also has FLIR thermal image capabilities. I work for a hospital security department which is using a P4P+ for conducting security patrols of our property including wooded areas as well as parking lots and building exteriors. We need basic surveillance and search and rescue type camera images and about 30 minutes flight time per battery. To get these abilities we are going to have to move up to at least an Inspired 1 or the Matrice 210. Those birds are going to be anywhere from 5 to 20k dollars with cameras. That's nuts. The Phantom line should bridge the gap between the hobby consumer and the industrial pilots. Yet we are still not seeing DJI steer their Phantom line in that direction.

For the social media like youtube or facebook, the Mavic Air is good enough. The Air is smaller, cheaper, safer and more intelligent than the P4P. Only the real high end users will need a beter camera like on the P4P.

Totally unrelated to your video but I need help and thought you might have the answer. There is a lag or lapse from camera to iPhone screen. Shot some video and same thing, choppy, like missing footage. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I sent an email to DJI but you know how they are on responding. Thank you!

Strange. Are you running the latest firmware and a cabled connection from your smartphone/tablet to the controller? Which smartphone/tablet are you using? I've never encountered this by the way. #MavicAir

iPhone 6s. DJI told me to delete and then reinstall app which I'm doing as we speak. If that does not correct the problem to couple Air with my iMac and do another firmware update. After that I guess back to the factory.

FYI, as per DJI, updated firmware again and deleted the app and installed again, same problem. Just started giving info for a replacement. Hopefully it won't take too long.

yes it might have the same camera but better image processor that can process higher bit rate... p4p does 100mbps imo the mavic pro 2 will be higher than that...lol if even the small mavic air can do 100 mbps you would think the mavic pro 2 would do better than that...

that the mavic air im talking about mavic pro 2 that leak to be release at the end of march and the mavic air can process 100 mbps.. when you look at the engineering of things the p4p have a 1" sensor but can only process 100mbps the same as the mavic air... that tell you the image processing chip is preventing it from processing greater than 100 mbps... with improve image processing chip its a give that the mavic pro 2 will have better than 100mbps bit rate btw im talking about bit rate not MP

you know that th new phantom 5 will be larger than the current phantom 4, it might have a foldable legs but it will be larger in a sense of weight and size...adding a changeable lens mean the camera is gona huge compare to current phantom 4 pro camera. phantom entry level will be $1999 imo adds lens and you talking $2500 and $2700 with combo packages.

Correct. I expect a larger Phantom 5 (unfolded) with a high-end and hopefully modular camera. Phantom 5 will become DJI's new "professional drone" IMO.

nah it won't be, it will push the inspire into the very high end like 5k base drone only and the inspire will be the drone that carry a hasselblad camera there is noway dji will put a hasselblad camera on a semi pro drone like a phantom...and the phantom 5 being foldable is not a given as the leak suggest its not foldable... it might have retractable legs though...

People has being flying this thing more than two miles without any issues. I grantee you are not going to be able to see this thing 2miles out. So it’s range distance is more than enough!! The battery life is more than plenty for most people lol.
