In 1979, Cyril Vetter produced an LP for Irma Thomas called "Safe With Me." The album was an attempt to introduce Irma to the then huge disco fanbase. While the album was well reviewed, the disco single "Safe With Me" did not get huge traction in the US disco club scene. It was released in the UK as a long form single and managed to achieve some success in UK and European disco clubs. Vetter, who was in the television business at the time, produced one of the first music videos and it was in heavy rotation in between films on Home Box Office which became HBO. This is the early lip synch version of "Safe With Me."
Safe With Me was written Lewis Anderson and recorded at Malaco Studios in Jackson, MS, using the Malaco Rhythm Section, consisting of James Stroud, Carson Whitsett, and the Memphis Horns.
