For the last couple of months I have been manually emptying my bin. I tried all of the suggestions from Roomba. Nothing worked. The app no longer offered the option to empty the bin. I guess my husband was tired of me complaining and surprised me with a new one. We moved the broken one to our basement but I just could not give up on it. Finally I saw your video my husband pulled it all apart and brushed out all the dust, cleaning the sensors. Florence finally empties again. Thank you! Roomba should really add this video to their help list! Now I have an extra clean house with 2 roombas 😂

Our Rhoomba 8 is restored. I am very grateful . words cannot describe how helpful this has been. If you have the same non emptying issues do this, it actually works

Another fix for a cause of this problem I have not yet seen mentioned anywhere: The rubber green entry/exit at the bin bottom (behind the brushes) can very easily by accident get pushed inward e.g. while cleaning or picking up the unit, causing that rubber to no longer make air tight contact with the base. And it’s not visibly ‘wrong’ unless you know how it’s supposed to be. That flap folded inward will cause emptying of the bin by the base to fail, with the same ‘clogged’ message. Even if your unit is totally clean and clear. Use a small screw driver to carefully flip the green rubber outward back in place, so it is is fully visible and on the outside surface. It’ll make good contact with the base and bobs your uncle.

@@doreenpeterson5654 I “think” the empty bin option only appears when the base recognizes that the unit is present… if those sensors are dirty, I don’t think it recognizes that it is home, which is the same reason that it isn’t emptying automatically in the first place. This is kind of funny. By Education, I'm a Renal Physiologist. 50 years ago, I coined a phrase that I always attributed to a "a famous Renal Physiologist" without naming myself. I was never famous. The phrase was this: "Very seldom do complex phenomena have monocausal etiologies". In simple language, all it says is most often, complex things have more than one cause. Such was the case with my roomba problem. I won't bore anyone with the problems I had to address to make the roomba work correctly, but I will say that if you hadn't gotten me started and others hadn't contributed to finding the solution, the 3 hours I spent getting here would have been for naught. Mine is not that luck. Spent all night sweping all the place inside bumper but nothing happen. The empty bin button is still no-show. The clean base keeps replying not able to empty the bin. About to send for repair but dont know which should be sent, the robot or the clean base 😂😂😂

lol. Hey also I’ve had a couple of people mention that it can be that green rubber flap on the underside of the robot sometimes gets pushed in and stuck there, and that may cause it as well.

@@papajoeknows8355 It seems that I found the solution. After had robot run to fulfill the bin until it show full bin alert, I took off the bin and clean it. Also clean the place in the back of rubber brush (there's sensor-like golden circle there, clear it carefully), and the dust sensor at the right/left of suction hose (the mouth attach the brush to the bin). Then, I put back the bin and send robot back to clean base. And BOOMS! The base start sucking dust from robot again. It seems the dust sensor (the one control the "Empty bin" button) and the bin sensor are seperate. When the bin was full, the bin sensor worked, also activated the dust sensor too :))

Really helpful, but it's schmutz, not schmuck (something else entirely!). :)

10 screws! That's a lot of work for an expensive vacuum i purchased so I wouldn't have to work.

EASIEST FIX FOR EMPTY BIN PROMT NOT WORKING!!! We suffered the empty bin mode not working. It would disappear from the app dashboard when you pressed it and not reappear until later.we spoke to customer service and I did everything suggested for the j6. Rebooting, blowing out the dust behind the bumper, removing the vac tube under the tower, making sure there were no blockages, blah blah blah blah . . . Nothing worked until i did a factory reset from the app and saved the map option. The empty bin worked perfectly. It will also force update the software. They never suggested it. Dumb asses.

iRobot wanted $300 to fix this issue on a 26 month old product 😡. Took me about 20 minutes to solve a 6 month problem using this video. ❤
