IROC-Z Holley Stealth Ram .450/.450 204/214 Summit Cam 1.52 Comp roller tips first start and idle.

First start up and idle for Roxanne the '87 Iroc-Z after freshening her up with a new Summit pro SBC 8800 hydraulic roller cam, 1.52 Comp roller tip rockers and a CVF pulley kit, power steering and alt. pulleys only. AC and Smog is mostly deleted in this video and new valve springs, injectors and custom tuned chip have yet to be installed.

How does this cam perform? Im looking at getting it for a L31 for my s10.

It's a work in progress. Only had the car like 8 mos. keep finding bad sensors etc. Decided to tear the whole motor apart amd put the cam and intake in. Had been troubleshooting idle and drivability problems for weeks. This last time I reset the computer after doing some adjustments I started her up and she ran great. Took her for a rip and she pulled pretty well across the whole range, down low and up high. I went with the cam because .450 is about the limit for the 193 heads valve guide to retainer clearance amd since there's no record of the motor that had been put in 15 years ago I had limited info on the specs. Cam actually sounds mostly stock now that I've replaced the maf and iac sensor and the car is running better.

🤔🙄 Yeah. Jeez what was I thinking? I don't know where I got the idea that the reciprocating motion of a cylinder, specifically the downward motion of a cylinder whilst the intake valve is open would cause it to " suck " air into the chamber. I must not know anything about physics .... 😐😑😐🙄.....hence the term displacement. They literally create a "vacuum" using the motion of the cylinders, which. "draws" / "sucks" air (these words are synonyms meaning, they have the same meaning), into the combustion chamber through the cylinder heads and whatever passages come before it.

An engine almost by definition is a giant pump or vacuum, the only difference being it takes the air and uses it to create thermal energy through combustion. Have a nice day 😆

If you want to get really technical, and I mean really technical, it is the difference in barometric pressure between the inside of the cylinders in synchronization and in turn the manifold that forces air in to the engine from the atmosphere. However that difference in pressure and exchange would not exist if the engine were not turned over and cylinders pumping to begin with. Hence the term "pump" hence the term "cylinders pumping" for every reaction there is an equal and opposite reaction, the cylinders move. That displacement causes a change in pressure (otherwise known as vacuum) what do vacuums do ? Yes, hence the word SUCK. Now suck on Deez.
