NEVER SEEN A DRUMMER WITH SOOO MUCH FEELING AND CAREFULNESS IN HIS PLAYING. PERCUSSIONIST SUPREME. THE SWAGGER AND VOCAL POISE OF THE ORGANIST IS NUMBER ONE. A TOP PERSONALITY.

Always liked Doug Ingles vocals and his fugue style of organ playing.

Hard to believe that only Doug and Mike are the only ones left standing in 2023. God Bless the Butterfly.

To Ron & Mike, thank you for the music. I'm only 38 but I'm still a fan! Discovered Iron Butterfly in the 90's and I'm rediscovering it now! Thanks, guys! :-)

This kicks a#se. The band are having so much fun and they are a tight and well rehearsed unit with great feel and dynamics. I always thought the " Metamorphosis" record was a classic psychedelic hard rock album but it has been largely forgotten these days.

At the time I thought that it was much better than the album that had their big hit. I saw this line up and the twin guitar interplay which was really good with Rhino using his echoplex and Penera using a talk box. It was kind like a psychedelic Allman Brothers.

I'm with you Ron. This recording is real high quality. Thanks to Josh for posting it. "Soldier In Our Town" followed by "Easy Rider" is a great mix! Great playing there stud. - Pin

Hey Mike! Awesome to see you chime in, your playing is quite inspiring to me. What year was that ES-335 again? It's a beaut, I really want to get my hands on a 335 someday. I may be biased but this has to be my favorite Iron Butterfly lineup.

Ron, I want to thank you and Mike for the music! I'm only 39 but I've been a fan for about 20yrs. Iron Butterfly was definitely on my high school soundtrack! Thank you for the music!

I’m amazed at the tiny venue. What an epic band, giving an outstanding performance. Got the cd because I was afraid I might wear out the tastiest piece of vinyl I own.

The best Iron Butterfly lineup…best performance…most of these songs from their best album…I think Stone Believer and Easy Rider are their best songs.

One of the best underrated bands of all time. "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" and management killed them. And on a side note... if you like the check out MC5 live.

They are becoming one of my new discoveries. The "Gadda Da Vida" song must have been a bit of a curse. That is all anyone associates with them. "Butterfly" and "Soldier" are fantastic tunes. Was there some conspiracy by Danish camera men to not show the organist who sang lead on almost all cuts? Penera is obviously the charismatic one, but still.

In 1967 Iron Butterfly albums always went on the turntable when I was a teen. Acid and hash went with it. 17 minutes of pure genius. In a Gadda da Vida.

They recorded him in "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida 1971" which was a part of this concert. Interesting enough is that he was drumming something in "Butterfly Bleu"

I once had Metamorphosis playing in my car and asked my wife to name the artist…Stone Believer was playing…her guess? Tom Jones?!?! If you think about it, Mike Pinera does sound quite a bit like Tom Jones.
@albertschepis8 ай бұрын
Yeah, underrated to say the least. I forgot how experimental and competent they were. I don't know that in-a-godda-da-vida killed them... it was just more of what they could do, but whatever made them fly under the radar back then is a shame. I don't know the whole back-story but I think kf they'd had more acceptance and elbow room they'd have been way more successful.
@0073802 жыл бұрын
This band never got the credit they deserved. I'm not sure why, but they didn't.
@deansuffka68443 ай бұрын
Maybe not for the "Metamorphosis" era, but the list of accolades for the classic "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" era is extremely long and musically noteworthy. As far as successful, commercially speaking, "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" sold so many lp's, that not only was it the album-of-the-year in '68/'69, the music industry created the Platinum Record award to recognize it! I think that shows some sort of success- for what it is worth. I roadied for them in '68- would have been on this tour if it weren't for Vietnam. '68summerofloveroadie
