Kevin Enos he played with Sammy Hager and had the Chuck Ruff band in Reno Nevada. He passed away in 2011.

Saw him live about a year ago and it was Great ! Played Frankenstein for almost 20 minutes. Couldn't hear nothing for three days after. Best concert in a long time.

I never realized how much talent this one guy had. It takes someone special to play not one, but 3+ instruments like he does here. Not to mention the effects board solo, that rocked on so many levels.

How did this guy not become one of the best-known musicians ever? His artistic use of the mixing board reminded me of Jimi Hendrix. A musician exploding with creative genius. Makes me wonder if he would have been deified along side Jimi and Janice had he died prematurely like them. Sad if that's what it takes to be recognized as a timeless musical prodigy.

I enjoyed hearing Edgar introduce the tune from that era itself. It pretty much started out as a funky studio drum rehearsal jam that morphed into this version of "Frankenstein" which is literally mind blowing.

To Rhino 888... Yep, that's Jerry Weems. A really nice guy. Went to high school with him @ Wooster High in Reno. When I first started getting into guitar, he used to set up my instrument at what was to become Bizarre Guitar. He always remembered me from school, and never had an air about him. Sadly gone now, but I did get to see him play alot back home. Happy to leave this note!! Duggan.

I liked this song ever since I was a teenager in the 80's. I'm a musician so as I got older I got better & better equipment and when I finally could afford Grados I started to appreciate some musicians more than others. This song sounds completely different thru them and u hear things that u never heard. Now I think Edgar Winter is probably a musical genius, gifted like Mozart was

My friend and I actually worked for the EWG at that time, mostly photography work. Sadly, Edgar is the only surviving member of the lineup that features Dan Hartman, Chuck Ruff and the great Ronnie Montrose. So much talent there.

My dad played this song in the truck when I was a little kid. He’d turn it up full blast at the “spaceship” part as I referred to it. This song made me want to play music and enjoy creative stuff like this. So thankful... Found out that my favorite current musician, Dave Grohl was inspired by this song so much it made him want to play music.

Not many know this... you must be an industry insider. Jerry went friggin' AWOL from the Army to grab this gig. It even took Edgar by surprise. How'd you know it was Weems?

Jerry's cousin is a friend of mine. He remembered Jerry as a kid coming home from school and playing his guitar until bedtime. If only it was that easy. He had a gift. I was glad to find his videos on KZbin. I happened to see Edgar and Johnny both in Dayton two years ago along with Rick Derringer. Edgar's performance was as good as 40 years ago. High energy.

Rhino888S And it looks like Dan Hartman on bass, I heard he played bass as well as a mean guitar himself and the keyboars and also sang a bunch and wrote and composed as well as produced Free Ride. Sad to see a great talent like Hartman not around anymore, good tip on the guitarist, I didnt know who that was, but I knew it wasnt Derringer. Both are outstanding

Rhino888S Yes, you are correct. Jerry was great...sad he left us so soon. Many are unaware that he wrote the guitar solo on "Free Ride", and the original version featured Jerry's playing. Of course it was re-recorded with Rick Derringer, though he still played Jerry's solo note for note. I still have a vinyl copy of that Bonaroo album...both Jerry Weems and Bobby Winkleman shared guitar duties there.
