I had an 82 FD LTD 5.8LTR in Gold. Honeycomb color velour int. Rare car. In 2021, these cars are almost impossible to find. Currently I have a '93 DC II 5LTR Pearl black Ltd. Leather & woodgrain. Running on genuine champagne gold EL GT RIMS. Also a '02 DU II Ltd ,mica,pearl with bone leather int.5ltr. Both cars fact sunroofs. Both cars top specifications most desirable combos according to the black book . Even though relatively late model vehicles, very rare on the roads today.

I remember wanting a LTD Cartier as a cruiser back in 93 when i first got my licence, fast glass, air,steer, and a factory roof, just lowering it on the standard alloys, fitting a set of of pipes and a 600 vac sec, the ultimate cruiser in my mind back then! Sometimes the factory gets it right! Thanks for another trip down memory lane Mark! PS, I ended up with a XF Fairmont Ghia complete with the factory ticker 250!

Back in the early 80's my Dad used to work for a local Ford dealer here in Canberra. One day he got to drive the Dealer Principles LTD for a few days. I remember it well, Hermitage colour (Maroon), cream leather interior, everything powered plus it had the venerable 351 Cleveland. What a cruiser, would love to have one in the shed. Thanks for the Ford classic memories.

Love the LTD. More a stock fan myself but I would ‘t say no to putting a 351 in it. This model also was available with the 302 until the earlier XD era model.

A mate had an FD years ago (when the AU 3 first released), he managed to get a motor from the AU 3 and jammed it in with auto box & some dodge af wiring

I had an XE with a V8....... shocking for rust. LTD probably the same. Farmers used to love these and the Fairlanes........now they run Prados! Changing times I guess.

This was 2k clear over base coat mate, It came out decent for a quick tidy. Sometimes those jobs turn out the best haha

250 cross flow. Bloody terrible motor imo. Learnt to drive in my dads sand coloured XD wagon. Bought a Holden Torana as soon as I could

I got one in my f100 it’s the alloy head 1 (same one that would have been in your xd) motor with no emissions equipment. it’s pretty zippy revs out nice and has stupidly high torque or maybe that’s just the truck box though. My dad got it up to 125 km/h once and the car felt terrifyingly fun. Ah well suppose it probably was a bit gutless with all that emissions crap on it and we all have different experiences.

Why ? ......it was never a good model....tap the alternator with a spanner and it might come good ,needs new diodes (brushes)
