As a fervent fan of Magnus did nothing wrong i look forward to seeing your break down of the Thousand Sons. Plus ideas on how to build a 2000 point army.

Great list and interesting video to hear all your thoughts on building your Iron Tenth! One idea to consider for the Leviathan is swapping the heavy flamers for volkite calivers - as it is foot slogging it might take a turn or two to get into lance/discharger range and 6 S6 shots with deflagrate is useful firepower.

@@leakycheese Excellent. I've got lots of Spellcrow bits because of your videos. It doesn't help being close to Dark Sphere. Not using the 3rd party on my RG but for a future Traitor project. ;)

I've really been enjoying your videos; Expressing creativity and identity in list building has always been important to me and I appreciate that you give those a spotlight in your videos. I'm also a math-hammer/theory-crafting guy and your videos have been top notch in that regard as well. Thanks for all your work. I see you nixed the patreon, is there another way to support your work? I was a 40k player back in 3/4/5th editions and I've never really liked the lore or gameplay changes made in the newer editions. I recently decided to give Horus Heresy a go and am really impressed so far; feels like coming home after several years abroad (despite being lukewarm at best to SM in 40k; there is enough variety between the chapters in heresy that I can build "my guys"). I've decided to pick up iron hands for thematic reasons (grim neurotics struggling with identity, anger and grief. Who hasn't been there?) but I'm also very interested in their play style. I've been theory-crafting a 3000 point list to build towards, but I'm a bit split on my medusan immortals. A kitted out 20 man unit with bells and whistles runs around 500 points, a similar price point to a 10 man squad in a land raider. I'll be taking 2 blocks to build my anvil but I'm not sure if 1 of each is better or if I would prefer 2 20 man blocks for the durability. How limiting do you find the mobility of the foot slogging squads, given the predominantly short range of the Iron Hands special weapon systems? My idea is to run 2 thallax squads (Forge Lord) with my bricks and I don't know how well the slow-moving infantry and quick thallaxes will be able to support each other, given the short effective range for both of them. However, I'm also a bit concerned that the ten man squads in land raider won't have the longevity to serve as a good anvil. Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences!

I'm also running Company of Bitter Iron so it's really cool to see that whilst we were both drawn to Immortals we have gone down quite different routes for army building, surely a big positive sign for our Legion and the variety of the game overall. At 2k my core is 2 squads of Immortals with Volkites and grav, but mine are going to be supported by a pair of Vindicators to double down on the whole short ranged shield wall aesthetic, with a Volkite Kratos to provide more dakka and just the one Dread as like yourself I'm concerned they may be frustrating to play against, especially with our Legion Traits. :) Awesome video as per usual, keep up with the stellar content.
@Hearesy
@Hearesy 2 жыл бұрын
I REALLY want vindicators too, hoping for plastic ones before I commit but I might cave earlier, or get 40k ones because I love them too! Your army sounds great and I bet all those volkites and shields look ace! I figure *most* people will bring at least one, maybe 2, dreads of their own so im only +1 dread which seems fine to me. But if not, maybe room for a vindi and a javelin!
@Hexter555

@@Hearesy You're probably spot on about the majority of people taking a Dread or two so your 3 is a very reasonable number, particularly with the Iron Hands being known for fielding Dreads.

Awesome, another iron hands player! 10:22, i’ve always planned to put Graviton rapiers in my army to slow down Spartan death stars and melee heavy armies by making difficult terrain. I also put graviton on my Leviathan for the same reason. You’ve got a lot of vehicle killing stuff there, swapping some dread weapons would work well for marine killing, like a dual Kheres contemptor maybe? Also Vindicator pie plates aren’t terrible for marine killing. I like Volkite, but the enemy still gets their full armour save even off deflagrate hits. I saw GMG playing an iron hands list yesterday and the volkite wasn’t really cutting it. All in all a very cool and fluffy list, great video.
@Hearesy
@Hearesy 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'd highly recommend watching my Heavy Support Squad video on why Volkite are a great anti-marine choice (tldr; high volume is better than AP). I cant speak to other players' skills with their army, but they definitely do cut it when used properly. I'd buy a second unit of them but it would be too powerful.

Nice to see an example list and the thought process behind. Ive just about landed on my starter lists for my loyalists and heretics, its been hard to visualize what a "normal" or "balanced" list will be for the new ed, so I think just going with a strong theme and cool units like you've done here is the way to go. Thanks for all the informative vids!

Hey mate, been watching for a few weeks, first time commenting though. Great looking list, and a great video as always. I really enjoy your approach to the game, it's a refreshing balance between pragmatic, mechanic driven choices and a respect for the lore and a fun game. I'm working on list building for my couple legions at the moment, so I'm trying to strike a similar balance between fluff and competitive. As for your list, I think three Dreadnoughts should be fine. In the absence of any other armour, your opponent can focus pretty much all their big guns on them. I know I'm certainly trying to make sure I have plans to deal with things such as Spartans and kratos, so there should be plenty of anti armour weaponry getting around.

I too am planning on a Iron Hands Legion force. Reason.... Dreadnoughts, Robots, Immortals, Gorgons, and Tanks....all the fun to smash/grind the enemy into the dust. Added bonus, I was also looking at playing Legio Cybernetica (maybe with the Thallax jump troops as well)…. Rites that I'd play around with Company of Bitter Iron Head of the Gorgon Pride of the Legion Ancients (I only plan on playing this with friends whom are going to be well warned of the madness that'll ensue)

I'm going Alpha Legion, and since their RoWs don't really want vehicles, I'm going to lean into dreadnoughts, Javalins and units that can use precision shots. Hopefully it's not too unfun to play against.

I think it’s a fair trade to have more dreads as that sort of limits what you can field elsewhere. Plus they’re Iron Hands- they like their tech toys. I ran four dreads today in a2,000 point game. Two contmeptors, one with two Kheres cannons and one with claws. The other two were deredeo.

300 pts on characters is a lot. Then again terminator armour and thunder hammer are solid options. My praetor has raven claw talons because I got a couple spare from Forge World but he isn't being used in my 2k list. Only using a Chaplain Consul with a master crafted power weapon to save points, and he should be hard to shift in a 20 despoiler squad blob with an apothecary. 3 dreads shouldn't be a problem at 2k; it's a relatively large game.

Hi, awesome video as always!! This one really helps getting an idea on how an army could / should look like. I would have a question How can I find out if a unit is scoring or not? I want to build a Headhunter Leviathan army but to my understanding headunters are not scoring if they are taken as troops right?
@Hearesy

Are unit needs to have the “line” subtype to score. Not just troops anymore.

@@Hearesy thank you very much, do you think a 20 man tactical squad and 5 man recon squad are enough scoring units for a 2,5k list? probably not right?
@Hearesy
@Hearesy 2 жыл бұрын
I’d say aim for 3-5 in 2k and 4-6 in 2.5k. Depending on how tough they are. Im a bit light in this list with 3 in 2k but i have lots of denial units so hoping that will balance out.

More dreadnoughts, a unit of tacticals in a rhino and a unit of lascannons. And a moritat or something.
