Beauty! I have an 85 going up for sale soon as I bought a Fat Boy. Mine is not stock though it has a fat bob tank on it, drag bars 10 inch high, wires in the bars.

Sound like can get it for little money but if u cant turn a wrench you better have deep pockets . Im into my 78 xlch1000 for maybe 1100 after putting it on the road and getting it rolling after 15 years in a shed.

Great looking bike. I like the color and wouldn't change it but I get annoyed at people who paint their frames rather than leaving them black. If the next owner wants something different than can't just paint the tank and the fenders, they have to pull the whole thing apart. (Although it doesn't look like the entire frame was painted.)

Xlch is kick start model,xlh is electric start,I had a 75 xlh ,my friends had a 76 xlh & a 74(shifter on right & was an xlch kick start)

This is after the factory took them back... This is after AMF... This is genuine Harley and the last of the ironheads...I had a temp gauge oil tank cap on a 1980 xlh 1000 that read 280,*F in hot summer ..found a Chevy Corvair automatic transmission cooler and mounted it on the frame under the steering head . My oil temps never got over 210*F after..the generators wear out in about 25000 mi. When it happens replace it with a 1984 XR1000...14vdc generator and magic box will last much longer and run cooler....and that about it ..and ride

Last year ironhead was 85 86 was first year 1100 evo then 1200 in 88

Sportsters were the thing to have yrs. ago, big twins were slugs! I'm elderly, yes, things change! The xr 1200 sporty is the best bike harley couldn't sell! A shame!

Yes that is an ironhead and no. It's not an XLCH it ma be an XLH XLCH were only made from 1970 to 1980 it may. Be an XLH The CH means kickstark that doesn't even have a kickstart. So it is not an XLCH but it still is a good looking bike
