I have not yet tried this, however, I am going to experiment with an Iron vitamin from a drugstore - as it is water soluble. Might be a bit cheaper and more natural.

Great video brother, Question: How do i know the difference between Copper deficiency vs light burn? They both look the same. Thanks brother and great vid once again.

Just a note to other subscribers: Be careful when using the iron supplement, it will stain everything including your skin LOL.

Something I know aquarium people use is red clay. It's red due to the iron content and that tends to get picked up by the plant roots at least.
@SSLFamilyDad9 жыл бұрын
Joe Tennies That is an excellent idea, I'll bet many people living in and around Georgia could probably use some of the native "red" soil as well. Maybe make a way to run water through it or soak it and then add the water. Thanks for the idea.

I've used vinegar (a mild acid) in solution to remove rust from various steel and iron items. I wonder if the end byproduct could be used (with or without further additions) to increase iron levels in water or soil.

Just me doing my thing man. I am building an AP system and getting it all on video so keep an eye out. Also have lots other channels I am working on and getting host for. Our survival page is going to be great I think because we just got a friend to take it over and he served in our military training others in weapons and survival tactics:) Check out our other channels and pages here bro! - www.HomeIdeasNetwork.com

I was wondering about grinding up liver and feeding it to the fish I have heard that liver is high in iron do you think this would work?
@SSLFamilyDad8 жыл бұрын
Depending on the fish you can get very creative with feed. Using a feed high In iron would work perfectly I think

Have you tried FPJ (Fermented Plant Juice) using vegetables with high Iron content?
@SSLFamilyDad9 жыл бұрын
Yusuf Germino I have thought about trying something like that for potassium but not for iron. Which plants or vegetables would you suggest with high enough iron content?
@taniksambo19698 жыл бұрын
would adding earth worm to the grow bed work? They break down solids and create nutrients for the plants. So then you won't have to add any supplements in the ap. There were a few videos on youtube that talked about this.
@SSLFamilyDad8 жыл бұрын
+Tanik Sambo yes compost worms are a great way to further break down roots and other organic matter in the grow beds. I also have worms in the beds but you still need to supplement from time to time

my aquaponics system is about 7 months old plants seem to be growing ok I have flowers but never any tomatoes or peppers what are your thoughts on my issues?
@SSLFamilyDad8 жыл бұрын
+John Smothers could just be pollination issues. Make sure to take tge plants to shake the branches and help with pollination. Also, you may be short on potassium or phosphorous.

You might want to switch to EDDHA Chellate. It is a form that is available to the plants at ALL a pH levels. It is not restricted like DPTA. (EDDHA is also available at Amazon and is hard to find elsewhere)

Maybe next time you make a vid of just you talking you could do it maybe beside a highway or in the middle of a construction zone??? Either would be quieter than your fish room. If you want to show fish sure take vids in your fish room but if you're just talking it might be wise to do it elsewhere. Not trying to troll you, it is very loud.

Thanks for posting this video. I wonder if there's a way of solving iron deficiencies without adding processed chemicals though - as Calcium can be added by the crushed egg shells. How does nature cope with a supply of soluble iron? (Ferrous oxide isn't soluble in water, so dropping nails in would not help at all by the way). Does it get it all from the decomposition of animals, or is there another/better way? Nature doesn't get powdered chemicals added, and (knowing chemistry) I am fairly sure there's no way that FeDTPA is created naturally in a garden. As an aside, you spelt my name wrong, hehe :-).
@SSLFamilyDad9 жыл бұрын
grotlek Sorry man, spelling fixed! In regards to finding a natural source of iron for aquaponics, that is a tricky problem. In soil, roots tend to induce some tricky enzyme activity that actually chelates the natural iron found in the soil. This form of iron is mostly insoluble as you said so it wouldn't work in aquaponics since it would not transport with the water well. So for now, the chelated iron looks like the best solution but I will keep looking for some other way:) Thanks for the nutrient deficiency guide again! Good article on nutrient uptake here - www.nature.com/scitable/knowledge/library/plant-soil-interactions-nutrient-uptake-105289112

Dude..no one can hear what you’re saying due to the high noise level in the background. I appreciate your efforts to help, but if we can’t hear you above the racket, you are not helping. How hard would it have been to back away from the noise, at least in your introductory comments? Thanks anyway....

Sir what about iron ore? I mean if we put iron ore into the depth of each growbed that would solve the chelation and the deficiency?
