It’s interesting how you forget about this when getting into the gameplay. We are not just in an ocean, it’s an ocean of blood. Literal blood. The black and white photos also help you forget. All the sounds are from animals or things that that live in blood. It would be creepy enough if it was in water, but the blood just makes it so much worse. How did the blood get there? Blood generally needs to be produced by a living thing. Did the blood come from all the living things that were raptured? Is the blood produced by a living moon that they are swimming in? The vagueness makes it so much more interesting, many ways to think about it without enough detail given to actually have an answer.

People have pointed out that since the Blood hasn't coagulated, it's _living_ blood. Furthermore, because it's living blood, the creatures living in it can likely grow to enormous size as they have all they need from their environment, so their cardiovascular systems are probably more likely hybridised with their gills/lungs.

All of David Syzmanskis (??) games do this. They ramp up to something horrifying but it turns out to be a little jpeg at the end but it still scares you. Squirrel Stapler, where you "meet God" in 5 days, has you ramp up from hunting squirrels to hunting their ghosts, to finding weird notes, then a scary warped JPEG is "God." but since it ramps up so well you get scared by it.

A little thing you may not know, the oxygen isn’t on a timer, it’s actually based on where you are in the game, for instance when you get to the half way point of the map/game the oxygen hits halfway, no matter how long you stay in one place the oxygen won’t run down unless you reach a certain point

i adore how little of this game is actually really happening, compared to what you're aware of in the moment spoilers if you haven't played iron lung (you really should) for one thing, you aren't actually piloting a submarine; you're inside a submarine facade, while your controls pilot a camera in the actual map; obviously you can't see through the camera, beyond single frames that have been muddied considerably the oxygen levels and steam leaks only happen at specific trigger points in the map, and don't actually mean anything, although you won't know that in the moment all the audio cues are just that - audio - and don't actually have a visual companion, because they aren't really there everything about the game is just smoke and mirrors fucking with you, but because david szymanski is a genius, it all works

Pyro, you should play this cool game called It Steals. I don’t know exactly how to explain it, but it’s super creative and unnerving, while also not being a huge commitment for your time. It’s really dynamic and the way the ‘monsters’ interact with you is *mwah*. I seriously don’t know how to explain it, but I know you’d LOVE it.
