When I visited London, I stayed at this location. This is a great hotel.

a lot of the hard rock/heavy metal venues are closed now, I used to go to "the standard" (black horse road tube station) now is closed and the whole area is being changed by new buildings and the pub is gone, I had good times there assisting to some of the gigs of tribute bands to AC/DC, THIN LIZZY, RAINBOW, KISS, BLACK SABBATH and other bands I cannot remember now, bud sadly now it's gone, like the ASTORIA in central London (by Tottenham court road station)......... I went to see MOTORHEAD, DIO, URIAH HEEP, SAXON, FOCUS, HAWKWIND, ANTRAX and other bands there when it was open, now the place is a shopping area, full of buildings and stores for clothing and shoes. we (heavy metal/hard rock and roll fans) are having hard times trying to find places where we can listen to and enjoy rock music..............

Could anyone tell me how many people were at Maiden's first gig there? Or at least the average gig attendance, the venue's capacity, or whatever number that might be the closest. Thanks guys!

They got exiled for a year due to a crowd trouble and fight in 1977 as there were too many people.

I went there around 74ish when Paul Day was singing there with Maiden. It was a full pub.

One thing i don't understand. As much as i love Bruce Dickinson and all his albums with Maiden, it was Paul Di anno who put Maiden on the Map and where are all the pictures from the early to mid 70's and early 80's when Gypsies Kiss and Smiler were playing there with all the ex members? All i see is Nicko mcBrain and Bruce Dickinson and later album pictures which have absolutely no place in the Cart and Horses in my opinion. It should be a shrine to the early days and how Maiden became who they became because of those first two albums Iron Maiden and Killers !!! There should be pictures of Clive Burr and Stratton and Doug Sampson and everyone else who had a part in Maiden back then. There should be pictures of the gigs at the Cart and Horses !! Am i wrong or am i right? !

quacka 1003 I think you mean there should be pics of Paul day and Ron Matthews and rice and Dennis Wilcock. Those are the members that were actually around during those days. Not the members from the debut album. Steve Harris from my current knowledge has a good relationship with Paul Day Paul Dianno and pretty much all former Iron Maiden members except for Dennis Wilcock. That’s why they were all in the documentary.

@@durhamrockerzarchive7034 Can you not read ? I already said that not only members from the debut album but everyone who ever played a part in Maiden's history. Your comment is invalid if you had of read my comment correctly !
