THIS is why drummers like me LOVED Clive Burr so much! Oh my goodness he is perfection here. So powerful and yet so simple and precise. The Clive era songs have never sounded the same since he left. I LOVE Nicko...but Clive was a once in a lifetime player with a feel and groove that has never been equaled! I miss you mate! This is heaven!

God bless Rod Smallwood for taking my film and transferring it properly so that the world could hear it and see it in his highest form. Sharon Osbourne has a film I took from the exact same spot of Randy Rhoads in 1981 and she refused to transfer it by now that tape is already disintegrated and I don’t even think it could possibly even be saved to look as great as this looks! thank you iron maiden manager Rod Smallwood for preserving history for all of us Maiden fans! Bruce was the best singer ever!!! And I didn’t ask for any money for the film I gave it to them for free tickets to the show the film cost me $150 plus to have it developed which was another 50 bucks 200 and something. Great investment for mankind! You couldn’t imagine what it was like to be there I was just concentrating on filming but it was unbelievable!

I was in front of Dave Murry. Remember the blockbuster landing on stage right before they came out? Bruce ran out a started flipping out and everyone on the floor turned and looked up at the balcony. I filmed this when I was 17 years old! Also filmed Ozzie, Motorhead Schenker and AC/DC. I gave the film to iron maiden’s manager Rod Smallwood I’m glad to see that it probably was released

Clive Burr is the best Heavy Metal Drummer ever. And my God Bruce´s voice. This lineup was unstoppable. Such a shame Clive left.

Because he didn't leave, he was kicked out on this tour. When his father died, he went back home to grieve his father, and they didn't want to wait for him, so he was replaced. Sorry to break it to you, but yeah, its a bit of a secret that Maiden doesn't really like to talk about. There are lots of nasty rumors about him partying too hard or that he had personal conflicts, and that just isn't true. As you can hear, this was his last show, and his was sharp as always.

@@danielgonzaleztejedor9486 i always loved how Clive played on the first 3 albums especially on killers and TNOTB and his drumming on beast overhammersmith is amazing i just wish he played on albums like piece of mind and powerslave i think his drumming would have been absolutely amazing and much more powerful on the other hand i think nicko is better for albums like seventh son and somewhere in time where the songs are much longer and more progressive it fits nickos style better but clive was also a very creative and versatile drummer so we could only image how good it could have been if they gave me some time to recover from his dads death...🙁

Wow Bruce 's vocals and persona as well as his energy is unmatchable when he first joined maiden ...he was born a super star ..it's like Harris hit the jackpot with him...Dickinson brought maiden to stellar heights that can never be repeated..when you hear "the number of the beast ","piece of mind" and "powerslave"....then there's no arguing why they are as massive as they are ...my full respect ...

Actually, the truth of what happened behind Clive leaving Maiden has never been fully revealed. There are stories from most members of the band but mostly conflicted, Clive had also made different statements before his intimely death, while the music world has had more than its fair share of the rumour mill. The truth is we will probably never know what really happened, and perhaps should just remember the great man for who he was.

Clive was SCREWED by Rod because Rod wanted HIS guy in the band and Steve went along with it. I will always and have always supported Maiden but Clive was my fave member and that is just one reason they always had fund raisers for Clive because they knew they screwed Clive.

@@bbadam19 Hey, I am just telling you what the reason was that the band and management gave for replacing Clive Burr. I prefer Clive to Nicko by a lot; better drum SOUND and way better groove. Again, I think towards the later stages of the NOTB tour in 1982, Clive was having issues with drugs and alcohol and there were several performances where his playing suffered. He sounds great on this video and he sounded great for most of the NOTB tour. I think there were a bunch of concerts where management and the band felt Clive didn't play his best though because he was drunk or something. Too bad what happened because I thought the band sounded better with Clive as the drummer.

Dude.. So was I! Great show.. Do you remember the massive fight at the end of the show between some fans and the security crew. All I remember is seeing a ton of red shirts of the security crew and about 30 fans going at it!

Me too...sixth row. The Rods opened. Maiden's set got delayed because someone in the balcony threw an M-80 that hit their sound board and hurt one of their crew. The band was pissed. Then they came out and blew the roof off the joint. The place was just insane. Not just standing...not just standing on the seats...standing on the arms of the seats and everyone locking arms, so we wouldn't fall. Still rates as one of my all time best raw shows.

I was at the show the next night at North staged in a theater the place was small and they couldn’t fit the staircase part of the stage😂😂 Absolutely memorable so this night at the Palladium this is the first American headline show for Bruce correct? If you compare the Judas Priest tour dates that makes this the first headline for Bruce interesting

I was in the front row lodge and I was 17 years old and I was a big fan of Samson so I knew all about Bruce this was his first time ever playing with iron maiden in New York City. I think they got to the film and put soundboard tapes of that night to it because the sound sounds phenomenal I’m so proud of this

Sounded just like this when they opened for, "The Scorpions." This audio is fantastic, the video is kinda blurry but WTF ????? Bear in mind, this was my first IRON MAIDEN Concert when they opened for the SCORPIONS. Peace of Mind, was the only album I owned. Almost this entire Concert was New music to me. I quickly went out and purchased The Number of the Beast within days of this Concert. I have since then become an avid fan and friend to the Band. I think somehow iron maiden got to this film which I shot on a super eight sound camera and they looped it up with soundboard tapes that they had from that night, because the sound is phenomenal!! unless there was a way where they transfer the sound from my film but it didn’t sound that great I don’t think so? I’m sure they taped that night!

Steve had Nicko in his sights since a festival in 1979. When Maiden toured with Trust he obviously tapped up Nicko. Clive went the same way as Di'Anno did. Steve looking to make the band stronger. Steve used an excuses to get rid of Clive. I honestly think he made a massive mistake. Imagine how heavy Piece Of Mind would have been with Clive? As as drummer of over 40 years myself they go on about Nicko playing Where Eagles Dare. It's not complicated and a bit sloppy drum wise. Clive would have made it an Epic and more solid without a doubt. Imagine Revelations? I hate it when Non Drummers say Nicko is more technical. What a load of shite. Nicko is sloppy.

Clive burr was better drummer than nicko, clive was more powerful, precise, and more technical, his time was excellent. When listening to live concerts you can appreciate its forcefulness. Nicko what he did was follow the style of clive.Nicko was good drummer, but his arrival took power to the band. In studio and live. If Clive had continued in iron maiden certainly today would be a more powerful band. R.I.P
