Yup. Watching vids of concerts of any number of bands from recent years and the audience is all just standing around. Compare with vids from shows in the 90s and everyone is pogoing, slamming, banging, they're into it. An exception is this Rage show 8 years ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p56aqpaeatZ7Z5Y. Maybe it's because of how that show came about, dunno, but man audiences seem to be really boring these days. Maybe that's why I don't go to concerts anymore.

In my book SSoaSS is where they peak. It's the end of the classic Maiden years before the ...middle age (medieval times? ;-) )(?) and then Bruce left. As much as I've tried, the Blaze album just don't cut it for me. After Bruce came back, the sound and style had changed. Nothing wrong with change, personally I just think they 1) went too far down the prog road and 2) dropped a little too much in tempo. Plus the odd long song is cool, but there has to be a reason for it (as in Rime of the...), I think too many of the new songs are long for no reason other than repetition. Maybe it's not them, maybe it's me, I just know I'm not the only one. ;-)

both of the original guitarists of maiden are underrated when it comes to lists of best ever, strange since they are the role models for any given modern guitar player, dave has been shredding since the start, which is standard style nowadays, so like lemmy was the king of trash, they are the fathers of guitar players off today.
@hemligagosta65547 жыл бұрын
like james hetfield said about lemmy and motörhead, if it weren't for them, metallica wouldn't exist, and the same goes for dave and adrian in maiden, they are the role models, if you understand that word, for many guitar players. yes maybe there are better players out there, but what would they have been without them. they have been around since early 1970's when the pedals wasn't as technical as they are today, and most of todays guitarists doesn't even know how to play without pedals or wawas. saw a clip where a guy played death- speed- and trash without effects, and even i could learn to play these songs as a newbie. and kirk hammet without a wawa pedal, what a laugh. wide enough for you, or?

@davidcollins73067 жыл бұрын
Ever heard of Rush? Prog existed it just wasn't established as a genre yet
@MrLtia12347 жыл бұрын
You mean prog *metal* existed but wasn't established. But yeah, Rush are generally considered the inventors of the genre. But much like Sabbath 'inventing' metal, there's examples of it further back than that. Gates of Delirium is a good one, although Rush were technically already around by then they weren't very prog. Then there's 21st Century Schizoid Man! Which also happens to probably be the inspiration for Iron Man. Although there's a lot said about metal being working class and prog being middle class, in reality they both came mostly from the same towns and a very similar musical background. They were linked right from the start, so it was inevitable, really.
