I have the Korean version, all 9 songs, except the label on the lp looks like lined paper, because the Korean Government didn't like the images on the original lp we all know.

@Jason's Vinyl lab. Putting more songs on one side will always reduce the volume of the mastering throughout that side, losing dynamics. The geometry of vinyl records works like that. I do not agree with the Japanese version squeezing both Total Eclipse and Gangland on side 2. THIS will lose quality. And the Japanese "virgin"-vinyl hype, is what it is: hyped up. They don't sound better. (read further below, I will elaborate on the fidelity). I love how they put Total Eclipse track on here and removed Gangland. You still have other pressings. I don't really miss Gangland either - only mediocre song on this album, and Harris obviously agrees. On vinyl, they often solve this problem by putting less volume on the tracks near the centre spindle. This is also a problem area for many stylus, but not so much problem for a good MC stylus which has a much narrower needle - which only doesn't just track better but also sounds better because of getter more information from the grooves. Go check for instance how the volume changes throughout a LP side. On an original 1982, check how much louder side 2 title track is than Hallowed by Thy Name at the inner grooves. Check Powerslave side 1 for instance, the last two Dickinson tracks, how much lower in volume they are. It is because it is higher fidelity on the first tracks, like Aces High, 2 Minutes to Midnight. Maiden often bragged about album lengths. They started with this thing on Powerslave, mentioning the albums playing time. Having over 25 minutes on each side will always reduce fidelity, so these lengthy single LP'ed Maiden albums will always have less volume - the grooves are not that much spaced - tinier grooves (smaller waveforms). Now, Maiden has never been an audiophile-record-type-of-band. Martin Birch was still a master of getting as much Maiden as possible in to the grooves with decent quality, often surpassing other bands qualities. Also, compare the 2014 remaster vinyl and the 2022 one - some tracks is lower in volume than others - title track is louder on 2014 and quieter on 2022. Seems the 2014 used the old trick. Better fidelity at the start of each side. On the 2022 Chris Bellman reduced the volume from the very start on each side to fit all material in evenly sounding with consistent volume (read: overall a bit lower volume than the 2014 pressing). 1982 OG. I do find it sounding better than the remasters. Though, e.g. Hallowed By Thy Name (last track on side 2) has much lower volume than the 2014 pressing again. This is to overcome fidelity vs groove-space as described above. Go grab your 12" maxi singles in 45 RPM of 2 Minutes to Midnight or Aces High and check how much louder, punchier, and better fidelity those are compared to the album versions. You will get blown away. All their 12" 45 RPM released throughout the 80's sounds amazing in fidelity, especially the Live After Death 12" Maxi singles with Murders in the Rue Morgue and the Losfer 'Orra ones, or even the 12" 45 RPM The Trooper maxi, with Crossed Eyed Mary on the B-side (MAN, that sounds great). Or when we talk about Total Eclipse. Go get your 12" 45 RPM Run To The Hills maxi single with Total Eclipse on side 2. THIS version has very much fidelity - much more than any of the records. The 12" singles has much wider grooves, which means more information, more dynamics (read: volume), more detail in lower and higher frequencies - more info + faster rotation. The bass will be more prominent. This 40th Anniversary really shine and do sound great, though. But a true fan will get all the above mentioned Iron Maiden item, so why discussing the replacement of Gangland? Steve Harris can do whatever he wants. Just finished typing all this exactly at 3:33 at night, so half The Number of the Beast. 🤟

Not sure why it is 70 euros when it is $60 in the US, so I can’t speak to the European pricing. Maybe it’s the VAT that makes it high. I pre-ordered mine from Amazon for $50 in the US. However, while these prices are high, they seemed to have just kept up with inflation. The Beatles White Album (2x LP) was about $10 in 1968, calculating for inflation that would be $85 today. Fleetwood Mac Tusk (2x LP) was about $16 in 1979, calculating for inflation that would be $65 today. That said, those albums had to recoup big studio costs, while this is just a re-release so perhaps it should be a little lower. However, vinyl production is more niche today so the pressing runs probably cost more.

This album has been available for a good 20 years. It was part of the "Eddie's Archive" Box Set, back in 2002. Also, I think there was a limited run of the three different double CDs of that box set, being available individually. I'm intrigued to know what the live gig sounds like on this release. As you'll all know, some of the tracks were available before on the "12 Wasted Years" documentary. The CD from the box set sounds very compressed when compared back to that. I've got used to it over the years, but I preferred the sound from the "12 Wasted Years" offering. Can anyone who's heard all three comment?
